My favorite cooking method - George Foreman Grill!

I know this is not supposed to be a forum of item promotion, but I can't help this one. I cook with the grill all the time. Lightning fast (at least once it warms up). Chicken, pork and beef (haven't tried fish, or other "exotic" meat like venison, etc.) all cook great, marinated, seasoned, or my favorite, all natural!

I will use a fat free cooking spray for leaner cuts of meat, as they can leave residue by actually burning to the surface of the grill. I've found my preferred spray is a fat free olive oil flavor spray for meats. However, that's just me.

Cleanup can be a nightmare if you let it, or it can be a snap. The grill is best cleaned shortly after completion of cooking. A plastic scraper comes with the grill to scrape any residue. If you leave it for longer, it is tougher to clean, but if you place a moist dish cloth (not damp, but not necessarily saturated) and plug it in, this helps steam some of the residue off.

Otherwise, you can do what I do. I have decent water pressure at my townhouse. I put the grill in the sink (dual sinks) and run the water in the unoccupied sink, as hot as it will go. I take the spray nozzle and spray both surfaces of the grill. You will get somewhat wet while doing this, but the super hot water blasts through anything and everything left on the grill. I hose it all off, wipe it with a soapy dishrag, and hose it again. Then I let it air dry. I can clean a grill that has sat for over 48 hours uncleaned in 5 minutes.

Anyone else have thoughts on this grill? I think it is one of the best inventions out there!

You know what .. I completely agree with you. For healthy quick meals, you can't knock The Grill! I've used it for fish and vegetables, as well. Nothing is better than the grill. I only wish I didn't get the personal one and got one of the bigger, family sized ones.

True, but if you are like me, a larger one means more cooking surface, which means more food to cook. YOu only need so much food for 2 people (my wife and I). Although the super size one would be nice for company. I can only cook 4 burgers at once, or a couple chops. I can squeeze 4 chicken breasts on (boneless, skinless) the surface, but it is rather snug.

Used it last night for boneless pork chops, lightly seasoned. Cleaned in less than 5 minutes! Going to be used again tonight for steak!

How does the veggie thing work with the grill? I loved grilled (charcoal grilled) veggies. Cooked over gas grills is okay too. Do you do anything to the veggies prior to grilling (outside of any seasoning)?

I could use even your size of grill. Mine barely fits 2 pieces of chicken.
as for the vegies ... i just throw them on with the seasoning. I'm pretty sure there are some receipes in the book that came with the grill, but I have never spent any time looking at it.

what do you use besides the grill? Steamer? Pasta Cooker?
Do you need a stove at all? I am using mostly the Toaster Over for meats and fish and the Steamer for Veggies and rice.
Works very well for me...I wouldn't have the space to put another 'appliance' in my cooking niche, but that grill does sound good. If I ever move I'll check into that:D

Good question, Natalie.

I use the stove to boil water as I do not have a steamer. I hope to change that soon. ;)

The nuker tends to receive a lot of attention in my house. Veggies, etc. which would be changed to the steamer once purchased.

Pasta is starting to disappear from the menu, but the oven comes in handy. If I was cooking for one a toaster over might work, but there's two, and eventually more (as we want to have kids). I'd like to try to convince the missus to do away with the toaster and get a toaster/oven. Also, a blender is a fairly popular cooking utensil.

The range oven is also nice with the big mixer, to make baked stuff. :)

My eventual purchases include a steamer, a toaster oven, and a blender I saw that has a spigot on it to pour out whatever you just blended. I don't recall who makes it or what it is called. I'll have to do some digging.

oven?? what's that? between the rice cooker, Forman Grill, *slow cooker*, and vegie steamer (part of the rice cooker), hardly anything ever touches the oven.

Isn't George a genius? I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my grill! Totally the best invention EVER conceived! Dude...you HAVE to cook up some fish on yours! It's soooooo grub!

George's grill

Have just bought one of these grills, another brand but the same principle. Its great, and fish is terrific. Never seen anything cooks so fast. :D

If I didnt have a george foreman grill I would be lost. I throw a wholepackage of chicken on that in the beginning of the week and that's what I munch on and make my meals with. Also just knowing that you'll not eating all the fat makes me feel skinny just by seeing it.

I have been wanting to get one for ages now, and we had sausages the other night (one of the only meals both my kids will eat with no complaints lol) and when I went to clean the frying pan I found it sickening to see how much fat their was in the frying pan, I don't even use much oil just a small amount of canola spray, but ickkk lol.
So I have decided, rather then getting my iPod (which I was going to use when I go out for a jog once the weather cools down), I told Garry I am getting the grill instead. Hopefully I can get it soon, might just put one of layby and pay a bit off each fortnight...
