My Diet & Exercise

So this is what I've been doing. Obviously I want to be successful so if any of you have suggestions on how I can make this better (either diet wise or exercise wise) then please let me know. I know that many of you are better with this than I am as I am just starting out and really not too sure about all of this.
Oh yeah, and I don't count calories, really. I try to keep an eye on it but I don't have a journal where I write down every single calorie that I take in .. probably should? Anyway...

BREAKFAST: Generally my breakfast is something like an egg with a slice of whole grain toast and either water or skim milk.

MORNING SNACK: A granola bar or some sort of fruit.

LUNCH: My lunch is usually a sole fillet. I keep those at work so it's very easy for me to make, and low in calories. And I enjoy eating it. Usually I'll have some sort of vegetable with it.

AFTERNOON SNACK: Really, the same as my morning snack. I'll have a granola bar or some fruit or some veggies (carrot sticks, usually) with a little bit of ranch dressing.

DINNER: Dinner is harder for me to eat real healthy foods as I cook for both my boyfriend and myself and he isn't interested in the dieting, so dinner is more about watching my portions than necessarily the food I eat. Usually we will have chicken, meat loaf, stir fry, pasta, etc. I always try to have some sort of vegetables with dinner.

I drink water all throughout the day.

EXERCISE: I go to the gym 6 days a week. Generally I go on the arc trainer machine that they have there for an hour, and then I move on to the weight machines where I do different ones for a total of about 20 minutes. All together, I'm in the gym for just under an hour and a half. Also for work I'm a nanny so I go for walks with the baby, plus whatever calories doing housework etc burns.

Sooo, opinions please? I hope I'm not doing this all wrong. I'm really, really trying. :blush5:

Everything sounds fantastic.
Just I'd write things down to make sure you don't go off
track with a few extra treats, which would be fine if you don't over do it.
Just be careful about that pasta :p
Goodluck you defiantly sound like your going to sucseed.

Thank you. :)

I've been watching how much pasta I eat since I've decided to take on this new life. It's hard because I looove pasta, but being thin will feel much better than any pasta tastes!

Knowing that you step on that arc machine for an hour makes me wonder if you're taking it a bit easy on it. Meaning, if you're doing the equivalent of walking or anything that doesn't get your heart truly pumping.

For accelerated weight loss, strain your body by focusing on intensity more. The more your heart pumps, the more energy it needs....AKA calories burned.

With moderate intensity, you should cut back on that machine to about 40 minutes or even a half hour, and still achieve the same amount of calories lost. Furthermore (this is the interesting part) you are very likely to keep losing calories for a few hours AFTER your workout, because you put your body in such intensity, that it's still recovering itself by consuming energy/calories.

Congrats, by the way. Your diet plan is awesome.
