Hello friends, here goes my first diary post so bare with me!!
I decided I'm just going to go through the questions and then tell you what happened during my day today.
1. Answer these questions before starting your diary.
-How much weight do you want to lose?
I want to lose about 45 pounds.
-What is the time frame for reaching your target weight?
I really want to lose at least 40 by May 28, my graduation date.
-How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?
I think some days I will do cleansing, but I really want to work on my portion control, that's the thing that ruins everything for me.
-Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
Currently I have 5 lb marks posted on my wall that I cross off when I get to a lower weight which supports me. But I also am making a fitness/weight loss group at school (that I would like help planning) that I think would help support me.
How realistic is your goal?
-Since I am doing it 5lbs at a time, it makes it more realistic, but if I want to lose 40lbs by may I better start working my ass off!!
When will you start?
-Now. Because there's no point in just "waiting for tomorrow".
And a few more questions.......
What is your current height and weight?
I am 180lbs and 5'3"
If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be?
125lbs, but I have a long way to go!
At what weight would you like to be at four months from now?
I would for sure like to be 140-135.
Why do you want to lose weight?
I want to lose weight for a lot of reasons. Not just to be "skinny" and to feel "beautiful", but I really just want to have control. I truly believe that I am addicted to food and don't have a lot of self control. I want to change that. I've been trying to get to my goal weight since 2011, I just really want it to happen now. Enough of the rollercoasters and binges. I want a healthy lifestyle.
Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event?
I mean, I would like to happen by graduation since I'll be starting a new chapter of my life, but it's not like a complete MUST for graduation.
What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals?
My food addiction, and my mentality "I can just do it tomorrow". Those always get me in trouble. Also social eating is really a problem for me. I see everyone else doing it so I just assume that I should be too. Bored eating too. HAHA, i have so many obstacles and so clearly I'm going to need LOTS AND LOTS of love and support hahaha!
Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?
I have a serious comfort addiction to food. I'm not sure why.
What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?
Counting Calories and just changing my habits, having a lot more self discpline and a healthy workout schedule.
Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?
I have been to 155 last year at this time. I did a 2 week cleanse basically that helped me lose about 15 pounds, and i kept it all off until summer it slowly came back from getting into the same habits I once had.
Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back?
I just kept making excuses. Once I started eating unhealthy and not monitoring my food intake, I went south fast.
Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time?
YES! I think that really helps me actually, I've been working on My Fitness Pal.
Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook?
Yes, I try to cook healthy, like trying new recipes that are low fat and low carb. Sometimes it doesn't satisfy me so I eat more and more of what I originally wanted to eat like nachos or pasta or something.
How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go?
Probably twice a week. I usually go somewhere on campus or out with friends. I usually have the mentality that out to eat means get whatever you want because you're paying for it. I think that needs to change.
What are your three favorite foods?
Mexican food in general, Steak, and Chicken Alfredo Pasta
What are your three favorite restaurants?
La Chimenea, Cheesecake Factory, and Balistreri's
What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food?
Portion control, not always having dessert, and not bored eating.
If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different?
I wouldn't have such a huge nasty tummy and I would be toned.
Do you eat when you are not hungry?
Yes, I do that a lot. Sometimes I try to eat until I'm full, which is not always necessary.
Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)?
Yes, sometimes I have the mentality "Well I already started so why stop now?"
Do you hide your food or eat in secret?
Sometimes
Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed?
More when I'm bored.
Do you eat as a reward?
YES
Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer?
Sometimes
What do you normally eat for a meal?
I try to have coffee for breakfast, and then some kind of soup or something for a light lunch, and then a filling dinner.
What type of snacks do you eat?
I don't tend to snack too often. I'm a big meal person.
In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing?
Starting to do a couple times a week, nothing serious.
Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home?
I do push ups and sit ups at home. I work out at my school's public gym.
What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise?
Weight lifting, kick boxing, and elliptical (also dance)
What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals?
I took pictures so before and afters are a motivation, also like I said earlier, the weight on my wall helps a lot too!
Do you have rewards for certain goals?
When I get to 150 I'm going to buy a Fitbit Flex, and my mom told me when I get to my goal weight and maintain for a month that she'll give me a 500$ shopping spree.
So there's a lot about me and my life when it comes to weight loss and food. I started my weight loss journey Feb of 2011 starting at 215 and slowly lost weight until Feb 2013 I was at my lowest--155lbs. I maintained that until July when I started creeping higher and higher until I have ended up where I am today back at 180 and completely disgusted with myself. I want to change my habits and the way I live my life when it comes to food and exercise.
I also want to start a challenge at my school for fitness and weight loss. I was thinking this:
2 points for every hour of exercise, 1 point for maintaining your weight, 0 points for gaining, and 2 points for every 2% of your weight you lose. Do you think that's fair? I also thought of making a separate group for people already in their healthy bmi's and looking to get fit. Any advice on how that would look?
I did a challenge that helped me which was rated by how many pounds I lost, and hours of exercise but that's not necessarily fair among everyone. What do you think?!
Today I was under 1200 calories so that was a good step. Thanks for listening to my schpeel. <3
