My cousin is in critical condition :(

My Mom called me yesterday morning, to tell me that my cousin Betty, from Louisiana is in the hospital, in a coma, in critical condition, due to complications from diabetes. She is in her late 40's, about 100 lbs overweight (morbidly obese) and in general, just terrible physical shape.

She had been rushed to the ER several X's in the last couple years, due to diabetic shock (I believe from critically high blood sugar... not low) but each of those X's, their had been somebody around to get her the help she needed... ride to the hospital, calling 911, etc.

However, this last time, she was by herself. So, when she went unconscious, their was nobody there to help. They don't know exactly how long she laid there, but by the time they found her, she was an inch from death :(

Now all of her organs are shutting down... kidneys, liver, etc And she's not expected to make it.

Oh sure, you could say that its diabetes that's killing her.... or kidney failure... or any one of the individual symptoms that she's experiencing.

But the straight up fact of the matter is, that she's in the final stages of death from "food addiction" ! My Mom said that she had continued to eat just as bad, and always had a pure sugar soda around her, even after the Dr's told her straight up, "Your going to kill yourself eating like this" !

Their is just no doubt in my mind, that had she got into the same health and fitness lifestyle I did, a couple years ago, after her first trip to the ER, she'd be 100 lbs lighter.... feeling 20 years younger, running, playing, and enjoying life ! Instead, she's laying there dying :( :( :(

And worse yet, I have several people very close to me, that are suffering from this same hideous, food addiction, at least 3 of whom also have diabetes :( It's just exactly the same as drug or alcohol addiction.

And there's not a dam thing I can do about it :( It's just SOOOO freaking frustrating......

Deep sighhhhhhh :(

So sorry, Fish :(

Your post really made it hit home how important being healthy is... I know lots of us (myself included) think how good we'll look when we've lost the weight... and good health sometimes takes a back seat.

Sorry again... ((((hugs))))
