My Confession

I confess. I am... a snacker.

My name is Jenny. I'm twenty-three and recently engaged to a wonderful man. We are both overweight and working on the right steps to correct it. I have a problem with snacking and cravings. I don't know how to get over this. I've tried having healthy things to snack on but that just doesn't do it. Not only that but I work in a building with 30 other women (I'm a day care teacher) so every so often we have tons of snacks and candy. I can't limit myself to just ONE. I have taken pictures of myself in my current state and let me say... I'm disgusted. I want to print out the pitcure and keep it on my fridge door and wherever I keep snacks (I don't really keep snacks though.) So that when I go for one... I can recoil in horror and back away.

If anyone has been through this and got through it... please give me any and all advice. I guess you could say I need a drill sargeant. Someone to be there when I pick up that candy bar and blow an air horn in my ear to discourage me.

We just joined a Gym and the head honcho was very pleasant and told us what he wanted from us. Very more involved than the other gym we were attending. He said he needs to see us at least 3 times a week for an hour a time. He even bent the rules a little to get us a deal with the personal trainers. It felt good to have someone care so much. I am hoping that will be the big boost I so needed to get in control.

So... if anyone has any advice or healthy (simple) recipes... it would save my life!

Congratulations on the engagement! *shakes pom poms*

Welcome to WLF!! Pequin has given you some very helpful links there! As for the snacking, I find that Orbitz gum really helps me. It keeps me from wanting to snack, also a couple of hand fulls of shaved almonds tend to help...even when what I want is a sweet snack.

Best of luck to you! You CAN and you WILL do this. Consider creating a diary here with us so that we can come by and encourage, support and cut up with you everyday. :)

Heya and welcome along here.
I know what you mean about the snacks, people at work convently located the snack box next to my desk. It was aweful.

What i did to start off was lower the calories on general meals, then i could afford a few snacks every day without going over my limit.
Its funny, but over time they just didnt taste as good as they used to - perhaps knowing how many calories they cost me did it.
Another thing you can do is carry sugar free sweets or other snacks and fruit around for when the snacking gets you.

Anyway good luck with your endevours. I hope to see more of you :)
