Muscle Gain Question

Is it possible to gain muscle but not lose any fat at all?

Or does gaining certain amount of muscle equals to certain amount of fat lost?

I'm asking because I've been doing pretty intensive weight lifting for almost 3 weeks now (6 days a week, 1 day off), but I haven't lost any weights yet. I actually gained 1-2 pounds. I haven't change my diety since I started. Thanks in advance.

the two can fluctuate in either direction. The levels can effect each other, but I do not know of any equation that controls.
It really depends on what you put in your body.
6 days a week? Are you trying to lose fat?

Muscle weighs more than fat, so you may gain muscle and lose fat and actually gain weight, but if your goal is to lose fat you should be focusing more on cardio exercises.

You didnt mention that you are doing any cardio. If you are list what your cardio schedule looks like.

This was a mistake i made back in college. I didnt concern myself with cardio and just lifted regularly. I basically started looking like the stay-puffed marshmallow man cause i was getting bigger, but because my BF% was so high, you couldnt see any muscle definition it just looked like i had been on an eating binge for 6 months.

Also what does your diet look like? this is the single most important element in fat loss.

I usually wake up at 10:00am for work, and eat lunch at 11:30am. I eat salad for lunch and have a cereal bar at 3:00pm. I get home at 6:30pm, and eat dinner at around 7:00pm. Dinner consists of Rice, Veggies, and Fish/Chicken. Work out from 9:00pm until whenever I complete my sets for the day (usually takes about 1.5 - 2 hours).

I do a 30 minute cardio to warm-up, and start my weight lifting routine. I'm not really worry about losing weight, I just want to lose Fat. Should cut back on weight lifting and do more cardio?

My current BF is 21%, I weight 203 5'9" and 26 years old.

What does your weight training routine look like? You dont sound like you have a very structured program. If you are lifting everyday then i would say with a resounding YES cut back on lifting. I'm currently trying to lose fat and i lift 3 times a week.

Try to get cardio in at least 5 times a week. Also start looking into HIIT cardio. This is basically where you sprint with all you got for say 45 seconds, then jog comfortably for 75 seconds making for 2 minute intervals. repeat this 10 times. That is HIIT.

Most importantly is your diet. how many calories are you taking in in a day? If you are taking in more than you are burning you arent going to lose anything. You have to create a caloric deficit. Try to aim for about 2500-2700 calories in a day (assuming you are doing some decent cardio) and try to spread it out into 5-6 small meals to keep your metabolism going.

Thank you guys.

My routines are with 30 minutes cardio before lifting.

Sunday: Bicep/Tricep/Shoulder
Monday: Waist/Chest/Back
Tuesday: Thighs/Calves/Hips
Wednesday: Bicep/Tricep/Shoulder
Thursday: Waist/Chest/Back
Friday: OFF
Saturday: Thighs/Calves/Hips

I'll cut back on lifting, and try for Full Body Lifts on Sunday / Tuesday / Thursday, and do Cardio everyday in between.
