Muscle Cells At Rest

The Resting metabolism....
you could say is your body’s engine....
It is the energy you burn .. just to be you... your heart beating.. you breathing.. all your organs running/functioning while doing .. nothing

Our Resting Metabolism Energy Expenditure... varies...... our bodies differ‼️.. in shape/size ..& .. composition....

To assess .. the importance of skeletal muscle & metabolism as a determinant of the metabolic rate...
A = 24-hour energy expenditure study on basal metabolic rate.. & .. sleeping metabolic rate... were measured by indirect calorimetry in 14 subjects = 7 males.. 7 females..

Values of energy expenditure were adjusted for individual differences in fat-free mass.. fat-mass.. age.. &.. sex.. The findings suggest.. that differences in resting muscle metabolism account for a part.. of the variance in metabolic rate among individuals...

can I say .. Da... sorry.. but..

Skeletal muscle.. makes up about 40% .. of the adult human body weight.. &.. it is influenced by genetics.. physical activity.. nutrition.. hormones... disease.. &..

The Muscle tissue contributes about 20% to TDEE = Total daily energy expenditure.. versus 5% .. for fat tissue..

Protein synthesis.. . protein breakdown .. from activities... account for this 20% of the RMR = resting metabolic rate..

Say What⁉️.. you say..

The Muscles cells are active.. at rest..
What are they doing⁉️..

Well.. Honestly.. this is decided upon.. what those muscle cells did while not at rest..

Protein synthesis is for growth.. or.. repair... verses..
protein degradation = catabolism .. or should I say.. break-down..

all this is possible.. &.. going on while .. we are at rest..
growth.. repair.. break-down ..

&.. metabolically ... this is trying ... to create a balance within the cell .. with nutrition .. to the stresses.. &.. trying to create the adaptation for better performance.. one way.. or.. another..

In order for muscles to develop in size.. this requires.. Protein synthesis..

For Growth .. this needs to exceed protein breakdown..

there needs to be a adequate nutrient.. &.. amino acid supply...
This is regulated by the Anabolic hormones .. meaning... growth hormone.. insulin-like growth factors.. & .. testosterone.. &.. there needs to be stresses put upon those cells..

Resistance training promotes hypertrophy... meaning a gain in muscle mass = proteins added to muscle cell proteins ..

Best explained as scar tissue ... as microscopic damage is done to those cellular contractile proteins.. & ..over a period of time heal.. & ..grow in size = the muscle growing gaining in size = growth.... exceeding protein breakdown...

These muscle cells are active one way or the other..

Within a catabolic state .. meaning .. break-down-metabolism.. this break-down exceeds growth.. as cellular proteins .. can be metabolized .. if there is a lack of nutrients.. or.. for lack of use.. meaning.. not necessary.. &.. metabolized for that reason..

The Anabolic-Metabolism = Growth..&.. repair Metabolism... whether in balance .. &.. repairing any damage.. or .. growing... adapting .. for better performance tomorrow...

This muscle cell activity at rest.. you could say.. is dictating your muscle cell densities.. &.. performance abilities .. for the future..
