Multiple injurys

Hello everyone;

This is a multiple themed post so please be patient with me as I try to explain clearly.

My first part to this entry is a piggy back off of “Kevinsmithwsnc’s” “Fractured my foot… Any ideas” post. A few years ago I tried my hand a parkour to get into shape. It was great and I was really getting into shape. However one day I was running to warm up when I slipped into a hole I didn’t see.

When I went to the doctor they told me I had a very common injury where bone splices had come off and were now floating freely in my foot. However surgery to remove the splices would be impossible because of their positioning, and if I had the surgery I may never walk again.

It has been about 2 years since my visit to the doctor and I have had relatively little to no pain or discomfort in my foot. However sometimes my foot does seem to throb in pain and I have lost a ton of flexibility in my foot. The big question here is what should I do? Is it safe to keep the bone shards in my leg, or should I get the surgery to prevent future pain even though I have had little to no discomfort at all.

While I am on the subject of discomfort I will tell you about my urban climbing injury. Since I can’t jump from building to building anymore I decided to ascend buildings instead. The other day I was warming up on a local jungle gym with a very long rope net ladder. Using the underside I am able to climb up like on a climbing wall. I was testing my strength and trying to climb up using only my arms, no legs.

As I did thin my right arm gave out and all my body weight was put on the right arm. I felt a dull pain and I had full movement of the arm so I didn’t think about it. The next day my arm hurt, like after a heavy set, and I had a soreness in my shoulder and deltoid (I think). The question here is what should I do? I have full range of motion in my joint, arm and hand, so do I really have anything to worry about?

One thing about my body that I do worry about a lot is cracking and grinding. When I go up stairs I can hear my knees grinding. I sliced my tendon in my arm and now I can hear it pop all the time. Is this anything I should have a specialist look at or, considering I have had these pops and creaks for years, do I even have to work.

All in all, I have done a lot to my body over the years. I have tried to take care of it but I may have done irreversible damage Is it safe to keep the bone shards in my leg, or should I get the surgery to prevent future pain even though I have had little to no discomfort at all. All the best;
Noguchi
