Muay Thai

I was watching MT True Life, and they did a thing on Muay Thai. I saw the 2 guys doing sit ups while someone pounded on their chests with boxing gloves on. What does this do, and is it good for you?
 
I think it gives you a sore chest and really annoys the hell out of you :D


It will be a conditioning (toughening up) thing. The hitting the chest will make it harder obviously and get them used to being hit.


I would compare it to doing sit ups and someone throwing a medicine ball at you to catch, Just a little more violent.
 
Somewhere I have an old karate ab workout video where they do things like this. I think it was by a guy named Mark Lala. They do the medicine ball, punching, knees/legs... He even shows a workout he does by himself slamming a heavy bag into his stomach. It's all so that you can take more blows in a fight.

Bas Rutten says his favorite way to knock someone out is with body shots. Imagine that, being knocked out by just body hits :eek: ... they do it so it takes longer for that to happen I suppose :D
