motivation

i am alittle mad at myself i used to work out everyday for a couple of hours and enjoy the weight training and ofcourse the results. I have lost all momentum since moving house. i have lost alot of weight which i am slowly putting back on but i cant seem to get into a routine and also i am doubting the sets that i am doing. I havent really had any official training as such most of the sets i do are from mens health and fhm little bits picked up over te last 5 years. I would be really gratefull if anyone could give me any ideas as to how to motivate myself into getting into a rotine and also a way to build muscle quickly. (I guess if i see some results that will inspire me to carry on) something i havent seen yet.

Cheers in advance.

P.s I am a guy (deceptive name sometimes Lexx as in luther not whitegarter......haha)

I changed my gym time to the mornings...that's been working out great for me. I get in there 5 times a week minimum now...

Money is a good motivator...like making a goal based bet with one friend or getting 3-4 people commit to working out so many times every week, if anyone misses they owe a certain amount to the pot. I did this with a few people at work and we went out to lunch every month with the loot.

the fact that summer is around the corner and you will be in a bathing suit is a good motivator for me right now ...
what about a workout partner? do u have any friends that workout on a regular schedule?

thats one of the problems i have no-one to spot me. My partner is trying to lose weight (you know girls) so it means she is doing lots of toning exercises. i am fairly well defined and it seems to staty that way when work out. Also most of my friends are a little older then me and arent to fussed about looking good.........already married and kids yada yada yada.
So any suggestions i tried meditation and goal setting but i seem to lose site. Any ideas on exercises for rapid results. Now i am in the mood i am happy to bust my A** to get there i did about 1000 sit ups yesterday it took me 45 mins. then 1000 scrunches. but after those to sets i was knackered. please any help thanks allcdnboy and pmoe33

Lexx 1000 situps?@#?!@ What a waste of time! And you wonder why you were too "knackerd" to lift! Would you do 1000 bench press reps or pushups? Hell no so why do it to your abs? They're just like every other muscle. Lift weights 3-4 times a week. Do High Intensity Interval Training two to three times a week AFTER you lift and do DIFFERENT ab movements on 2-3 of your off days.

you sound very passionate about that!! thanks for the advice guess i followed the wrong advice although he sounded like he knew what he was talking about. I appreciate i have to work the other muscle groups aswell and intense as it was it did feel slightly beneficial. but at the end of the day i wanted to try and get back into the swing of things hence the title of the post...........i was, and still am open to suggestion.

Here are motivational tips:

For Sports: "There is someone out there working harder than I am. I need to bust my butt to keep up with and surpass him."

For Fat Loss and Body Toning: Look at the covers of Men's Fitness and say "I want to look better than that." Then get yourself there. Or look in the mirror if you're not 100% satisfied with how you look, change it!

For Strength: Pick a weight goal that you would like to reach and get there!

yea, 1000 situps sounds pretty heavy. Sounds like you need to do some more challenging situps. If you can do more that 30 in a set, then it's too easy. Add some weight .. and an incline .. use an exercise ball. It's just like weight training, if it's too easy, then u need to challenge yourself more. I'm not sure what kind of weight your pushing, but you don't 'need' a spot ... a spot can help you increase the results by pushing a bit more weight, but it's not necessary. However, there should be ample people around the gym that would spot you for some of your heavier exercises. I get asked all the time to spot for people i've never met before ... never bothered me. In fact, some of them became good friends and workout partners for a period.
