Motivation & Stamina

Hi,

I am 6'0 190. I am 20 and I am starting to gain weight because I have progressively gotten lazier.
I have tried cardio to build up stamina but I am facing major hurdles in terms of hitting the wall way sooner than I should. I start off at a very slow pace (2-3mins) and then turn up the resistance and start to really get going. At around the 10min mark though is where I always seem to hit the mark. This has been the routine for around 2 weeks and I havent seen any major improvement in my ability to stay on the bike for a longer period of time.

I usually will do a 13-15 min on the bike before I go to class and then come back usually 90mins later and do another 13-15min on the bike.

I used to be around 160 only a year ago and have added alot of weight over the past year. Do you guys think that could be a factor in hurting me build my stamina ?

Any tips/suggestions I would really welcome

Thx

Ronald

It will take a little bit of time to build up endurance. But, some of it is in your head. You need to push yourself!

Do your 13-15 minute rides 3 or 4 times per week for a week. Then, add 10 minutes to each of those sessions the following week. Continue to add 10 minutes per workout each week until you are doing 45 minutes. Initially it will be hard to do this. Suck it up.

Cool down after every session... And, stretch out any muscles that are worked.

Eat better. Eat some carbs before your ride to give you a bit of energy. Also, you can try sucking on a Gu packet after about 20 minutes of work.

Get a good amount of sleep. And, rest...

Stick with your plan and you will see results in ~19 days.
