Morning food

Hi all,

I am just starting out...I am dissecting my day and finding what I can do better...

Mornings are the toughest for me...I am very picky eater...My morning fare consists usually of a Bagel loaded with cream cheese...

I hate eggs, pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, oatmeal...

I was going to try cereal but I know most contain high sugar levels

I would appreciate some suggestions..:D

Sincerely,
Chan

You could try Kashi Go Lean Crunch, really yummy and crunchy, not too much sugar, and good fiber and protien.

I second this cereal! I love it!!!!!
Rice Krispies w/skim milk
Fiber One w/skim milk

Whole wheat bagle w/reduced fat cream cheese
Low Fat Cottage Cheese & Fruit & toast
Grits
bran muffin combined w/above option
Rice Cake & peanut butter

I'll add more as I think of them....

I eat a cup of oatmeal mixed with a cup of fruit, almost every day. It fills me up, and is pretty healthy. I find that if I eat the same thing every morning, and it's a healthy meal, it makes it easier to track what I'm eating for lunch and dinner.

Cottage cheese w/ some fruit (even canned fruit packed in water)

I might even suggest a whole grain bread - rathert han a plain bagel - with low fat cream cheese...

Thank you all for your suggestoins...I have never eaten cottage cheese...I couldn't get past the look of it...but I am going to give it a try...Also the Kashi Cereal

cottage cheese comes in a few different styles - you might want to experiment a little with different brands - Light and Lively has a creamier cottage cheese -Axelrods is dryer and has a smaller curd... you can also add some cinnamon and vanilla to it and heat it up and it becomes like a tapioca pudding

I also don't think there's any rule that says you have to have breakfast food for breakfast - if you want a grilled chicken breast in the morning - go for it - make an extra the day before..

at breakfast time, your body has gone about 8 hours without food or drink - you wouldn't start a car with no gas in it - you shouldn't start your body without fuel in it either.

Protein! High protein cereals, soy milk, whole wheat bread with peanut butter, or even something unconventional like beans. Do some experimenting and figure out what you like.

I never EVER liked Cottage cheese before. I have a problem with the texture of foods and the way it feels in my mouth (I know kinda weird), but I tried the cottage cheese in the form of Cottage Doubles (has low fat cottage cheese w/fruit spread on the side) and I began to like them, and now I can eat cottage cheese alone. I also am not a big cheese eater either.

You could go with some bran flakes or shredded wheat with chocolate soy milk. You could also try some vegetables like carrots with low fat peanut butter along with a slide or two of whole wheat bread. Like above, breakfast doesn't have to be traditional breakfast foods.

I love knudsen's low-fat cottage cheese. I am not sure if that is just something in CA, but it's really good. I find that the other cottage cheeses are too lumpy! and feel kinda gross on my tongue lol.
Also, oatmeal with fruit is really good. Even better if you sprinkle some flaxseed over it. You can't taste it but it give it a crunchy texture. Soy milk is an excellent thing to include in breakfast!
When I am feeling extravagant, I have whole wheat pancakes with light vanilla yogurt, fruit, & walnuts on top. It's amazing, sweet, and super delicious. The yogurt has tons less sugar, and if you compare serving size, you get ALOT more, and usually you wouldn't even eat a whole serving of the yogurt on your pancake, whereas the syrup just soaks into the pancake and you end up using more.
Those are just my idea's.
Oh, and I have found that after eating the Kashi cereal, I am really hungry not too long after. Try putting some fruit in the mix if this happens! Good luck, breakfast is hard for me too but if you can make it healthy, you are starting off the day in a wonderful way!

I just started to try and eat healthy...and i was told to eat 4 wheat bixs with no sugar....

that actucally fills me up
