More important?

Diet by far. Regardless whether your goal is to bulk or cut - you can be working out all the time, but you will neither gain any mass not cut any fat without the proper nutrition. I would say, especially in as a beginner - 90% of how your body responds will be because of diet.

What is more important, diet or exercise? I've seen a few studies that favor one or the other, but what do youuuu think?

For losing weight....it's ALL about diet, no matter how much exercise you do, you won't lose weight if you replace all those calories you burned. Simple as that.

For gains in performance, respiratory, circulatory and keeping your muscles fit....it's ALL about exercise.

Since you posted this in the "Weight Loss" section, I think it's safe to figure you want to know which is most important for weight-loss.

Of course, we all know the answer is it's a combination of all things: diet, exercise, nutrition, supplements, stretching and even rest/sleep. Fantasizing about the ****ycat Dolls....that's important too :D
