(Total = 170)

Dinner

Breakfast was good, and lunch, I had leftovers from last night, plus an additional green-leafy salad to go with it. Tonight's dinner will be another salad, and some fish. Overall, pretty good today I think.

I didn't get to run this morning like I wanted to. My legs were feeling a bit tight and sore, so I decided to skip the treadmill running and let myself have an easy morning. Well, as easy as 3-loads of laundry and two dog-baths can be. Lol.

I'm not sure what I'll do later as far as exercise goes. I could go for a 5-mile walk, or do my running. I would love to do a bit of running, but now that I've started doing things outdoors, I feel so cramped inside the house. I seriously don't want to try running outdoors yet, especially in my neighborhood because of all the hills. Like I said in my other post, I'd like to build up to a 15 min/mi before I start. I don't want to push myself too hard, too fast (i've done that one too many times before) and I really don't want to re-injure my knee, now that I've really made some progress with strengthening it. Well, we'll see what happens.

I'll be back later tonight with update #2, and tell you all (lol, do only 1 or 2 ppl really read this?) about my exercise.

Swoofie,

It looks like you're doing great. Good job! I like how you post. Very reflective. I've got to say some of your food descriptions made me chuckle. Keep up the good work!

June 8 - Update #2

Ok, so i'm about to eat dinner, and usually afterwards I go on my evening walk. I'm not exactly sure if I want to do that anymore. Earlier, I was (yet again) attempting to do a pull-up on my bar. Good news: I did a pull-up! Bad news: I tried again, but couldn't, so I attempted to "kick" myself up and the thing ended up sliding forward, off the doorframe and I fell on my back and slammed my head into the wall.

Its been several hours since then, and my head is still aching. I've got that "just off the spinning teacups" feeling, and my vision blurs a bit every now and then. I'm also very tired and would really like to just fall asleep and wake up when it doesn't hurt anymore, but I have to be somewhere tonight so I'll just suck it up. I'll take some aspirin with my food, and see how that works. If I'm feeling better, I'll go on a short walk. If not, I suppose I can call today a "rest day" and leave it at that.

Well that's my update. Oh and thanks Ashy for the nice comment. =)

omg.... those things are freaking terrible. I see a lot of youtube videos of people doing that, but grats on your pull up. I have never been able to do one.
You don't think you have a concussion do you? :-\ I would not sleep until I felt right.

June 9

As always, let's start with food.

Breakfast (8:20)
- Oatmeal: 236
- 1 cup blueberries: 84
(Total = 320)

Lunch (11:45)
- Grilled chicken: 120
- Potato salad: 350
(Total = 470)

Snack (2:00)
- Peanut bar: 190
(Total = 190)

Dinner (5:00)
- Beef & veggie soup: 200
(Total = 200)

Snack (7:30)
- 2 eggs: 140
- 1 slice whole wheat bread: 90
- Light cheese: 70
(Total = 300)

Total = 1480

Lol, I think my last snack should have really been my dinner, but the soup didn't leave me feeling very full, and by the time I finished my evening walk, I was just about starved. I tried to avoid eating by chugging down some water and distracting myself, and usually that works, but I was just too hungry and caved in. Still, my overall calories for the day isn't too bad. Oh, and lunch was yet again leftovers. But no worries, that's the last we'll be seeing of chicken and potato salad! Its officially finished off!

Moving on, I'm a bit sad right now, because my iPod keeps freezing everytime I try to click something, and so I was unable to use the sensor to keep track of my mileage and whatnot. But considering I walk the same path, at basically the same pace, I can tell you I walked 30-minutes this morning, so about 2-miles, and an hour this evening and got about 3-miles. So overall, I did 5-miles, give or take a little. I'm going to see if there's anyway to fix the problem with my ipod and sensor, so hopefully I can keep posting my exact stats rather than guessing.

@Ashy - Hah, I think my pull-up was more luck, 'cause I've been trying over and over again today and have yet to do another. As for my head, it's much better now, so I don't (hope not) think that it was a concussion.

Ok, that's it for today! Until tomorrow!

@ Truslyver - Thanks. I always feel a bit sore in the legs, but once I actually start walking it actually feels better, minus the eventual tiredness after walking awhile. Yesterday was a rest day due to hitting my head, but I'll keep walking every day if I can.

June 10

Food!

Breakfast (9:00)
- Grapenut flakes: 150
(Total = 150)

Lunch (12:30)
- Udon noodles: 350
- 1 cup baby carrots: 53
(Total = 403)

Dinner (6:00)
- Instant brown rice: 230
- Ground turkey & veggie mix: 300
(Total = 530)

Snack
- Banana protein shake: 215
(Total = 215)

Total = 1298

So my calories today is a bit low, but that's ok. I was going to stop at dinner, but I figured I needed to have something to get me over the 1200 mark so I added the shake for after my walk later. Which reminds me, I should put the banana in the freezer now so it'll be frozen when I get back! *goes to freezer and tosses in banana*

Ok! That's done! I really love smoothies, and this one is super easy to make. Slice up a banana, put it in a container and freeze. Once you're ready to make it, pour a cup of water into the blender, add bananas and mix. Then add vanilla protein powder, mix again, and voila! Yummy shake in just a few minutes. I've done it with an unfrozen banana before, but freezing it makes the shake creamier, and it means you don't have to add ice cubes. I've also had this for breakfast before too, and added half a cup of oats into the mix as well, and it was very good and filling. If I didn't hate cleaning the mixer so much, I'd have one for breakfast every day! I like oatmeal and whatnot, but sometimes I really just don't have the time to sit there and eat it from a bowl. A shake would most certainly make life so much easier! Anyway, I'm rambling I think.

So this morning's exercise was good. I finally got around to running on the treadmill. My parent's ordered "Just Go With It" last night OnDemand, so it was a nice incentive to stay inside this once and use the treadmill. Started with a 5-minute warm-up, followed by four 60/120's*, and then walking until I finished an hour. I forgot to write down the calories burned and distance ran/walked, but from memory I had something over 3-miles and 250+ calories burned. So not too shabby. As for my evening walk, I just finished dinner a little while ago, so I'm giving my stomach a chance to settle down before I go. I'll start at about 7 o'clock, and walk at least an hour, maybe more if I feel up for it. My iPod thing is working again; I just recharged it and things sort of just "reset" and it was all in perfect working order. So I'm happy about that. I think that's all I have to say for now. I'll be back with another short update tonight after my walk.

*60/120's (as my friend calls it) are 60 seconds running and 120 seconds walking. Eventually I hope to reverse it and make it 120/60's.

June 10 - Update #2

Got back from my walk a little while ago.

Evening walk
Distance: 3.66mi
Time: 1:02:01
Pace: 16:65 min/mi
Calories: 418

I did pretty good today as far as exercise goes. My running and walking this morning was very nice, and I had a funny movie to go along with it. This evening's walk was great; I'm really, really enjoying these outdoor walks. There's just something about the sun in your eyes, the wind in your face, and all the friendly people you pass by that make it so worthwhile. And honestly, I feel like I'm getting more results doing these long walks up and down these hills than I ever did in the gym. Weird huh? Maybe I'm just more connected to it. I duno. But I feel more relaxed, have more energy, and I just have an overall better mentality about things. I'm really loving it!

Well, that's it for today. Tomorrow is Saturday, and we always have things to do on weekends, so I'm not sure how my exercising and eating will go. I'll definitely go on a walk tomorrow morning, and hopefully squeeze in another walk in the evening. If not, I guess my treadmill will have to do. Dinner is usually the big problem for me on weekends, since my family likes to either make a nice, big meal (my mom and I usually try out new recipes we find on the weekends) or go out to eat, so I'll try to cut back on my food earlier in the day so I can still meet my calorie goals at the end of the day.

I hear that banana shake calling my name, so ta-ta for now!

June 11

Hello!

So I'm just updating right now since I'm not sure if I'll have time to or not later. So far I've eaten about 850 calories worth of food, leaving me about 600 calories for dinner tonight and maybe a snack.

I was only able to walk 30-minutes this morning, but something is always better than nothing. According to my sensor:

Distance: 1.65mi
Time: 30:07
Pace: 18:14 min/mi
Calories: 188

I would have liked to go a bit longer, but I started a little later than usual and it was beginning to really warm up. If I have time to tonight, I'll go on another walk and hopefully walk an hour or more. Tomorrow I'll weigh in, and although I know I haven't been shedding huge amounts of pounds, I'm hoping it went down a little. I've learned from past mistakes that too fast, is too bad and I'm going to slowly work my way up (or rather down).

That's it for my short update! Tonight I'll try to find time to post my food and calories, and hopefully add in more exercise.

June 13

So today and yesterday were somewhat rest days. Yesterday I did a lot of heavy lifting since we were moving furniture in and out of my sister's apartment. I spent the entire day away from home and ate out of necessity rather than watching what I was eating. I didn't eat junky fried foods, but the sandwich I ate for lunch was certainly not for someone counting calories. Dinner was filipino food at my aunt's house and I'm not a huge fan of the kind she makes, so I didn't eat a whole lot. Today, feeling tired and really sore so I haven't walked. Again, didn't count my calories but I've done okay I suppose. Skipped breakfast because I just couldn't bother (I know, bad Swoofie! Don't skip meals!) and then for lunch I had something that I don't know how to describe except that its like...an indonesian eggroll? Dinner was steak. Yeah. Not my best, but meh.

I weighed myself today and I'm down to 146.5 so I'm happy about that I guess. Not thrilled, but content at least. I'm starting to miss the gym now. I love my walks, but I'm craving for something more. I really miss using weights.

Ok thats it for now. Short update.

~Swoofie

Meh. Been pretty bad lately I guess. Starting to not care. Not getting much support from my family or anyone else for that matter, and my mom thinks I'm just wasting my time.

I think I'm done with this journal. Cya guys.
