depending on the split, it could matter if you bump it up a day...you don't want to still be recovering. sometimes you can just adjust the volume of the 'makeup' workout to account for this, IF its even an issue at all.
another option would be to pay off the guilt by doing a 'fun' activity, like playing tennis, basketball, soccer, etc. it may not be the same kind of exercise, but its still more active than sitting at home, and it'll improve your mood and attitude, to prevent burnout.
