Im new to the site and Im going to create a little journal for me to record my food intake and exercise.

February 03 2008

Breakfast:
(woke up a little late, so I had lunch for breakfast)
Lean Cuisine (chicken fettuchini)
220 Calories

Lunch:
Vegetable soup
220 Calories

Dinner:
2 Pork Loins
Fried Potatos
Green Beans

I dont have a calorie count on them, but this is my first day and it went a little rough..hopefully tomorrow will be better. One thing I can say for sure is that I did a lot better then when I was just letting myself eat whatever I wanted.

I used to eat about 3,000+ calories a day.

welcome to the site.. while it's good to record your food here - youmightalso want to keep track at or one of the 100s of other free sites on the web to keep track of calories.. Calories are important but other nutrients can help or hinder weight loss - from what you've written I'd guess you're quite high on sodium and quite low on fiber -both those can be detrimental to weight loss and can lead to results you dont want -such was water retention and waste retention.

What are your current stats? height/weight/age -
Recording measurements are also crucial - you will see results there before you see scale results often times.

Do spend some time reading the stickied threads aroudn the forum - you'll learn a lot...

My stats as of right now are 20 years old, 5'9'' in height and 375 in weight.

My main problem with eating is that I usually stay up late at night to work on homework and I end up snacking all night. Im hoping I can gain some support from this site, as well as will power of my own. One step I am making to stop my late night eating is that Im going to limit my first week of dieting to where I cant eat past 7 pm.

Ohh thanks :] I will definately do that if I run into trouble. I also heard that (I dont know if this is a rumor or not) but i heard that if you buy scented oils and rub some under your nose when you get a craving, it will take the craving away.

I've never really believed the "2 hours before bed" myth. I think that myth only started because snacking is most common at night time and when you let your guard down.

As long as you eat healthy, stay within your calories and exercise it doesn't matter if you're eating healthy at 12pm or 12am.

hey missbliss...welcome to the club of night binging. i acquired my habit of eating at the wee hours while doing homework in my time. And trust me, it is hard to get rid of. I still have that habit though I am working. The only way to get rid of it is to try not to eat consciously when you get up at night.
For me, when i awake at night time, I have this sudden rush to eat something but it subsides in a couple of minutes. The trick is not to give in to it.
Have a proper healthy dinner and get enough sleep for 6-8 hours. Not more not less. And keep your consciense strong.

:waving:Hi and WELCOME!

You've made such a good choice by joining this forum and deciding to log your food. Do take advantage of the Fit Day programme; it is so helpful!

Dr. Phil (my buddy) says that the key to losing weight is not having will power, but HAVING A PLAN.

I totally agree! Set your goal and then just steadily march towards it. If you fall off, so what? Just get right back on programme at your next meal! Better health is terribly important, and YOU ARE WORTH IT!!!

Best wishes on your WL journey,
ABBA:eh:

I've tried to correct this problem in this exact way in the past; I used to eat a lot when I came home after school, so I said to myself, "No food until 6 o'clock!" Then binge time moved to the evening (like you,) so I said, "No food after eight!" and the binge time promptly moved to the morning. Then back to the evening. My latest method of dealing with it is to schedule a before-bed cup of cocoa, tea, or some yogurt just before bed, so I can look forward to it but have little chance of eating afterwards (since I'm sleeping.) This approach has been working so far. "No food after 8" just doesn't turn out to be practical if I'm staying up really late doing homework, since usually I get physically hungry (stomach rumbles and whatnot) after about 4 hours (which is only midnight!) and I can't sleep with the rumbles. (If you can, I'm jealous!)

Too, congratulations on starting your diary! I'll keep up as much as I can. :)

Your off to a great start!! I also binged alot during the night. I am not trying to save some extra calories for my nights and chosing a healthy snack like a rice cake, or low calorie soup instead of bread, cookies, chips or the ultimate demon CHOCOLATE!
Fitday is great definitely start tracking with it and you will be happy!
