Minor depression like symptoms

I've been having minor symptoms of depression. I've been consistently sad during the day, I find exercising is a great help, but while I'm at work I get pretty sad. Does anybody have some tips or advice on how to deal with these? I don't feel like I need medication, just some tips on how I can work on it myself.

What is your diet like at work? . I used to consume loads of bread and coffee at work which would cause an insulin spike. Then in the afternoon I would crash and feel tired and depressed.

I have a decent breakfast, typically cereal or oatmeal with some fruit. I have a cup of coffee when I get to work. I have lunch at noon, usually a sandwich, some fruit, some carrots, and some juice.

When I dealt with depression I found that a support group was the best for me (talking things out really helped, so did listening to others in similar situations). I didn't end up needing medication and things worked out really well. Other things that helped me were getting more sunlight, finding a hobby, getting excited about a project and cutting out caffeine. It's good to keep a doctor in the loop, they might have other suggestions to try as well - not all docs push the meds, but sometimes meds are necessary. Being sad also sometimes just happens - it's part of the wide range of emotions we get to experience.
