Hi everyone!

Me and weight, we're not really good friends. I've never been obesely overweight, but as a child I was a huge fatty (with all the wonderful bullying that comes with that) and very unhappy, but also not doing anything about it. But then I went to Japan for a year with 16 and first gained 5 kg, but then lost 10, reaching an all time wonderful low of 57 kg (with 163cm). That was very close to what I think of as my ideal (and unreachable haha) weight - 56 kg. I didn't really do anything for it, I just ate less… Anyway, I come back to Austria, my home country and bamm, within 2 years and during my Matura (=graduation exams) I was up to nearly 70kg, my all time high. Over two years I struggled to lose that weight again and have been able to hover around 59 - 61 for over a year now.
But guess what. I became to content with that, and now, at the age of 21, i'm losing control of my weight - and that is NOT gonna happen. I won't let it!

So, to sum it up:
Current weight: 62,5 kg
Dream weight: 56,0 kg
Time to achieve it in: Till End of July (=3 ½ Months)


Doesn't seem that bad I guess but believe me, the moment I get under 60kg every other gram is such a struggle.
So, how do I intend to get there? Well, i'm not a big special diet fan, as I just have such a hard time sticking to them. I don't completely rule them out though, if for example someone was willing to try one with me I guess I could (as long as it's not too over the top ^^)
But what I intend to do currently is a) FDH - Friss die Hälfte (basically means: eat half biatch) and b) work out work out work out. I want to be more toned than thin ;) So Fintness challenges are gonna be posted here as well.

And, to make everything more tangiable, my short-term goal is to be under 60kg when my birthday comes around - in exactly 1 month.

I'll post daily updates of sports, how many kcal I ate and my progress in weight loss and I hope to find some people who are on the same journey and want to share and spur each other on :)

Day 1

Okay, so, let's start this right now, shall we?

Problem is, I'm having a chest cold, and everyone is forbidding me to go do sports :(
But I'm doing everything right now to get rid of it as quickly as possible, gargeling stuff and drinking hot tea and not letting it take control of my body. I hope to wake up tomorrow with a much better health so i can go jogging. I already put together a plan for this week when I want to do what sport and I want to make it happen!!! Currently I want to train so I can run 10k in one go, so that's where I'm heading >o

Okay, so, I was sooo good with food today, had an amazing chicken, salade and pea lunch and for dinner only a soup, which would've been ~700kcal all together and I wasn't hungry! Now, party motivated by the fact that you're not supposed to eat less than those 1200 kcal, no matter what, i decided to order turkish food. I had such a hard time not to eat the bread or chocolate but dayum, I still ate loads and now i feel uncomforatble. I don't think i went over my limit as far as i can estimate but this kind of eating behaviour is still no good. One of the main things I want to do is shift my eating habits from late night food attacks to healthy breakfasts, so I hope i can get there at some point :(
But hey, I went for a loooong walk, read a book in the sun, worked and chilled, spend time with my mum… it was a good sunday and a good start in a week full of weight-loss ~* ;)

Sports today: none, sick :(… but I made sure to walk over 10,000 steps! :)

Hi Mia,

I put on some weight whilst studying for my final exams too so I know how you feel! I'm also new here so *high 5*

I'm trying to lose most of my weight before my Birthday (late August) so fingers crossed we can both do it in time for our Birthdays! Good Luck :)

Day 2

I was pretty good today, had breakfast (instant noodle soup… okay maybe not THAT good) and then for lunch half of a vietnamese rice noodle with beef portion, the other half will be my dinner now. I logged it into noom and it said a portion is nearly 800kcal.. that sounds crazy much tbh, it's really not a heavy dish and it might be a lot of carbohydrates but no fat… not sure how much to trust that kcal-counter on this but i'd rather undereat than overeat i guess and i'm not super hungry…
Still, counting kcal when eating out is so hard, isn't it?

Only frustrating thing: Still. Coughing. :( I still can't work out, its making me soo grumpy and sad! I so hope this cough is gonna go away soon!!

Instant noodle soup? For breakfast? As an American, I find that very odd. Is that a normal breakfast from when you went to Japan? Or is that Austrian?

I'm not judging, I'm just curious. I'm a chef, so I'm fascinated by food and what different cultures eat.

Hahaha, oh no, a chief found my diary :p

Well, first to my defense: eating something hot like soup, fish, yesterdays dinner, for breakfast IS very Asian. But no, not Austrian at all, we eat bread with ham, cheese, jam, ect., most of my friends here would look at me strange.

But then again: I am a student. A very, very lazy student at that. So yeah, I must admit to eating a lot of instant stuff because a) it's fast and b) gives me a good overview over the kcal. On the other hand… it's really not healthy at all, I know :(
(Did you hear the story about the japanese student who only ate instant ramen during his studies and finally died because of huge deficiencies? ^^')

And you're not the first calling me out… Haha, just the other month in Japan a Taiwanese girl started cooking and feeding me, because she just couldn't stand what I ate all day long.
So, I guess I SHOULD start eating more healthy, and cooking for myself, you're absolutely right, i'm odd :p Fine, i'll make that a new challenge for me on my weight-loss-trip :)

Day 3

This post will be edited later, as it is only morning. the reason why I'm already writing is, that my weight just did a HUGE jump in the right direction. Okay, calm down, I know it's mostly water weight and whatnot, but this is still a really good feeling!
The background is that I started really dieting and counting my kcal about 3 weeks ago, first week went fine then BAMM, within one week I gained 1,8kg, with a 1200kcal budget per day! What. The. Frick?! So I've been really, really frustrated about this weight and it didn't go away for the past two weeks and now… it's suddenly gone! Yay! Let's hope it stays off haha :D

Okay, the day is nearly over now! So I made my own food today (See chief? :D), spaghetti with a healthy vegetable sauce and feta cheese, it was amazingly good! For dinner my mum invited me unexpectidly out. It was a hard restaurant, italian, everything seemed really calorific. Went with the rabbit and vegetables at the end and only ate half the portion. Still had a hard time logging it, as always when going out, but I think I did well in staying under those 1200 kcal. Still am so hungry though… >o< Hope i won't start snacking later!

My health is getting worse :( I just went for a walk today (as the fitness studio refused to let me work out while being sick) and even during that my cough got worse and worse. And now i'm starting to have a fever… I am NOT happy about this at all! Man, and tomorrow uni at 8am… bäh.
Well, cross your fingers i'll survive the next day and that my body'll stop being stupid!

Day 4

Maaaaan… now i'm really sick. Had to skip university and stay home all day with fever and really bad coughing… but at least i'm better now, much better than yesterday. Let's hope it'll be gone by the end of the week! And I used the time to study and clean up so it wasn't all bad.

So far I had 700 kcal, so another 500 open for dinner. My friend is coming over and already announced that we're gonna have indian food so I guess i'll bust that limit today unless i manage to not eat the whole portion.. which is impossible >o<

But hey, a little bit of indulgence should be okay, right? ^-^

Hi Mia! I'm glad you're feeling a lot better... but dang. I can't imagine eating only 1300 kcal a day. I can hardly get by with 1600, haha!

But then again, I think it's all a matter of getting used to eating small. Just stuff yourself with vegetables! It'll be all worth it the end. :)
 
Day 7

Haha, thanks for your condolences Tory! You were right, I bounced back, was super good with the food yesterday, ate loads of vegetables, drank jugs of water and even with the 4 ciders at night I was under my calorie budget, hehehe! But damn… I'm hungover as hell >o<

@Jay, i'm actually only supposed to eat 1200 to be honest! ^^' I'm a small girl and not all that muscular, so my basic burning rate of kcal is appaerently only like 1700! It's so unfair how guys are allowed to eat more! I remember an interview I saw the other day with some famous bloke who had lost a lot of weight and they asked him for his secret (sports, eating in a kcal budget, blablabla) and one of his sentences was: "But I must say, I am having a hard time only getting by on 2100 kcal a day".
… Seriously?

Soooo, a small drumroll please… I'm at 60,5 kg! That is frikking amazing, I lost 2 kg in one week! :O
Probably mostly water weight but hey, gone is gone! Probably won't go as fast from now on but I already feel much better. My belly is getting nicer and less chubby again, made me really happy this morning :3
My thighs are still the worst though, so I want to keep loosing.
Still, i'm upping the challenge guys! Now it's not 60kg to my birthday, no sir, it's gonna be 59kg! So let's fight :D
The big drumroll is gonna come when I go under 60kg, hope that's within the next days ;)

Ufff… well, I'm back. Bit off a rough patch last week, had a lot to do, many exams, many obligations, i just couldn't make everything work out. Ate horribly, i'm not happy with myself ><
Its stupid, when I have to study a lot i get sooo hungry, just ongoingly, hungry. It's absolutely frustrating, it doesn't matter what I eat, how much, what I do - Still hungry. :(

So, I'm around 61kg again (weighing in tomorrow) so I'll have to seriously work now to get under the 60 for my birthday… I'd even prefer to be closer to 59 but i'm not sure how i'll achieve that, only 14 days left, exactly two weeks. But today was a TYPICAL day, like all the days before.

I woke up at 6:30 after about 5 ½ hours of sleep, studied, went to uni, wrote an exam at 8:00, studied, had a healthy salad-thing, still really hungry, ignored it, studied on. Around 1 the hunger became unbearable, so I ate lunch (Schnitzel, not too healthy i admit)… still so hungry after that! Then I studied more, then a friend came over to the café I was at and I got weak and ate a "Mohr im Hemd", basically chocolate cake with chocolate sauce hahaha ^^'. By that point I was over 1500 kcal, and still. frikin. hungry. But I ignored it and went to play Tennis (burned ~*600 kcal whoo! - at least something!).. And now i'm home, trying not to eat dinner an STARVING.

Please, does anyone have any idea what I can do to stop this? T_T
 
i was like you, hving hunger pangs but not willing to eat at that point. Just started last week and into my 2nd week, i realise i need stuff like celery or apple slice as snacks to tide through the day. So far i hv not been hungry until meal time. maybe this will work for you as well?
 
Hi everyone!

Okay, starting to get it together the past days but still not really awesomely on my way. The problem is eating at night, I always eat kinda good for the day, but I just end up with only like 300 kcal left for the night and THEN i overeat. Grah. I think what I really need to get this going is to brutally stop eating at 7pm, no matter what, and leave it at that. But then again, for example tonight i'm going out for drinks - no real way to stop the kcal there, is there? I need to find some kind of equilibrium between those things …
Anyway, floating around between 60,5-61 kg for the past week and now woke up with a weight gain of 0,7 over night. I'm comforting myself that that's typical water gaining around this time, but still, it's such a punch in the stomach, isn't it!

@ Jubilee: Unfortunately I am allergic to apples but the idea is not bad actually! Just get some low-calorie vegetables and fruit and nibble on them, i'm gonna try that, thank you :)

My birthday is also in a few months. I might want to steal your idea. And oh, I have a cold too. Coughing, and unable to work out too much.

Thank you Genie :) And you are very welcome to steal my idea! Unfortunately I only have 9 days left to get under those stupid 60kg, so it's time to get moving!

I'm sorry to hear you have a cough. Don't work out! I know it's frustrating and urgh, but don't, it'll only make it worse. Mine has been gone for a week now (thank god) so i'm gonna go for a run now (even though it's cold and urgh). I really want to kick-start this weight-loss, gonna start a kind of detox-diet with many vegs and tea and very little sugar and carbs for a week now, and comibine it with sports, as much as is possible next to my insane study scedule >o<
I found a friend today though to join me with the detoxing, so i'll have someone to motivate me, which is great :D
And now for that run! Nothing can be achieved without some sports! Let's hope it also gets my blood flowing and improves my concentration!
 
Revising for exams was always my worst time with my eating habbits but my friend helped me out. She recommended I get my favourite flavour fat free yoghurt. I always chose mango or lemon. Pour the yoghurt into a pipping bag and pipe penny size circles onto a tray or baking paper. Pop them in the freezer for a few hours and you have your favourite flavour fat free yoghurt drops. They really satisfy your need to nibble whilst prepping for exams :)
