METs and calorie burn through exercise

It may be obvious to everyone else, but what threw me was you need to subtract 1 from the METS number to see how many *extra* calories you burn exercising. For instance, if you're 200 lb and you go for a leisurely 30 minute stroll (METS of 2), you'll burn about 90 calories. However, you would have burned 45 calories just sitting around doing nothing so by going on that stroll you really only burned an extra 45 calories.
