Metabolism vs. Diet

Ok, just a quick scenario / question for you guys who are knowledgable on how metabolism works and whatnot.

Ok, so lately I've been getting into the small meal every 2/3 hours thing which I've learnt from you guys, often dedicating a whole "small meal" to just 2 bananas and an apple or something of the sort.

So anyway, I'm a late-nighter, and i'm usually in bed by around 2am. I usually have 'dinner' at around 7/8 oclock, and often before i go to bed i'll get a little hungry, but not so much that i cant resist it, usually its only a small craving. So my question is, say i have my dinner at 8 oclock, and im going to bed at 2am : at 11.30 or so i get hungry, and can choose between a few pieces of fruit, a bowl of cereal or something of that sort to tide me over. Now, is it better for my metabolism-rate that I have this small snack, with a good 2/3 hours left before i go to bed ? Or will it be better for my overall fat loss if i just resist from eating anything untill i go to bed ? As i said, it wouldn't be difficult for me to go without any other food after dinner, but i dont know whether its better to support my metabolism by continuing the small meals every 2/3 hours, or whether it'd just be more worthwild regarding fat-loss to just leave it out altogether.

Thankyou in advance. I know most of you are familiar with how metabolisms work, and ive been curious about this for a while now.

Hmmm .. well this may be a stupid question to some of you, but I'd seriously like to know. Johnny and other people i've heard talking abouit metabolism and stuff. Indulge me.
