Hi everyone :)

*cut and paste action*
I've been struggling with weight issues ever since I started taking a certain medication, I've never been stick skinny but now I want to deal with this weight before it gets out of hand again. I lost 40 pounds over the last couple years coming down from my peak weight of 210 (ay) but I got into a rut and it kept getting tougher to lose another 5 and now I'm going the other way! I'm hoping the forum can give me the added support I need and kick me back in the right direction. I'm a vegetarian but as we say "there isnt any meat on the dessert cart"

I need something to push me to work out, otherwise I just push it aside. I'm such a procrastinator. I have a dance dance revolution pad that I use to work out because I enjoy it but lately I havent even been getting to that! 30 more pounds is what has to go but it's an uphill battle that isnt even helping with my legs.

some things I am telling myself I have to do:

stop having high calorie drinks-thankfully I found a great diet grapefruit soda at vons and nonfat starbucks drinks arent bad, right:eek:
stop starving yourself during the day-bring snacks to class so that youre not looking at the lecture thinking "law of...I want a sandwich"
take a walk-it's nice outside, enjoy it

you'll be hearing a lot from me :)

Hey Mel.
Welcome to the forum. This is a great place for inspiration and support.
I am a newbe to the vegetarian world. I am really enjoying it. (enough about me in your journal).
Good luck.. you can do it. There are lots of great people here to help!
:)

I had some cereal and crackers for breakfast and so far after that I just drank a smoothie (one I made myself not those wonderful surprise calorie ones at the mall). There's been some stress I've been carying around and I think it's about to go away thanks to some work to get everything organized. What a stress ball I am and that only contributes to holding onto my weight. Oh I actually have to go buy a scale because mine has been broken for a while, so I wont be able to bs myself guessing my weight haha. My goal is to see whatever that number is and subtract 5 pounds in 2 weeks.

Plus: has anyone used vital radiance makeup? I now officially love this stuff!

Hi Mel! I'm glad you're here!:)

Just wanted to say welcome, and to make sure you get a good digital scale...the analog ones are soooo frustrating to use.:)

thanks! I actually took a nice walk to the store to get it and found out they didnt have any! Atleast I got some walking in and I now know what to look for
I'll hit another store tomorrow:)

WELCOME! First off I love your attitude and the lettuce comment!I to am a hard beliver in walking is a gr8 way to lose weight and it's enjoyable to!Goodluck to ya Tammy:)

thanks tammy:) I love walking, it really helps me clear the stress and think clearly.
oh and we all know you love mascara, T2, it does wonders for your eyes ;) (guessing that youre male!)

today has been going pretty well, I'm in a good mood :)

ate:

cereal, 2% milk
water
a tall non fat pumpkin spice late
and a salad I'll be making soon

I have a late class tonite and thankfully they have a table full of healthy snacks to munch on! My thighs are thankful for that. Speaking of thighs, that's where a large amount of my excess weight is located, lower body. I'm sure the whole "badonkadonk" think is very in now but I've got a couple extra donks going on and I do not approve. I was so self conscious about my legs when I was younger, I would just refuse to wear skirts, shorts, short dresses, regardless of what weight I was at! Thankfully, I've gotten over that (thank you heels) but my relationship with my thighs is still on the rocks. Maybe we need couples therapy

Mel:"You see, Thighs, I feel like youre just not being the best you can be. You could be an army of 2."
Thighs:"Well, Mel I'm happy just the way I am"
Mel:"You're being an *ss"
Thighs:"Actually, I'm being Thighs. If you have a problem with *ss take it up with them"

Ah I found some clothing that makes me feel great, havent been shopping in a while and I forgot what a great shirt can make you feel like. Now if only I could find pants  but I'll take it all in stride :)

Hello Rosette!

I could not help but chuckle at you comment ~

"badonkadonk" think is very in now but I've got a couple extra donks going on
:D

Oh how I understand! AND the whole "THIGH" issue! I'm with ya babe! ..... ;)

Wishing you a great night!

thanks want-a-be and dariqueen! I love laughing at myself, it's so much better than pitying myself all day (and it burns calories:p ).

have a good night!

'Tis good to know I'm not the only one who carries on coversations with wayward body parts!

It's nice to not feel so alone ;)

It's great that you listed your immediate goals right up front - they're little things that you can take action on right away and over time will help you see results.

As for T2 and make up, we might need a whole new section on the forum for those pictures! Oh, and Jennufa and I can set him up with a new bathing suit from the speedo link she sent, and you've got the mascara...

That's probably not anything I should publicly admit on a forum

T2, you crack me up!

Hi everyone

How spiritual five pounds can be, they can hold a world of meaning and struggle, a world of pain and false earthly pleasures. It can help lift weights off your back and can scare you to run in the other direction...

:D I got my scale! I'm ready come on *throws some punches* bring on the french fries I'll knock'm out. Ticker is set up and it's getting bored just sitting there!

(and thanks m2m!)

havent checked in in a couple of days and I've been doing pretty well. I've changed out ice water for most snacks and I'm a salad eating fiend. I've lost a couple (2) pounds but I want to take a fitness class to do some good. I've found myself standing infront of the mirror and grabbing at places I need to lose weight and just saying "No, no more of this." I really want to lose the weight and damnit I want muscle.

hi rosette! i actually have the same problem as you, with the starving myself during the day. i'm in class/work all day during the week, so i eat breakfast at around 8am and then binge at night. it's soooo bad, i hate it! you should try carrying water with you, along with fruit or some other snacks, it sort of fills me up.

as for walking, i love it, but it might be more enjoyable for you if you listen to some energetic music.

thanks dcbk :) It's nice that someone can relate because there is no "lunch time" in college haha. It's "Get your work done and worry about eating when you finally remember youre hungry."

I'm taking water and that's really helping during the day because it's just so hot that the cool vending machines and frozen coffee drinks can be tempting. At times it feels hopeless (have you seen the size of my thighs lately? oh you havent...) and I think "yeah I might lose a couple pounds but my body is softer than butter left out on the counter" but hey who doesnt have those moments? I can do this...now about those 5 pounds I'm working on.
