i forgot to ask this

does diet really work for losing man boobs? cuz, if it does then ima need lots of help on it, im really bad on diets

Diets don't work... Period...

What will work is a lifestyle change where you are aware of what you are eating.

Most of the time - moobs are caused by excess fat - lose the fat and the moobs will go...

Since you're still quite young -and your body is still changing and growing - DO talk to your parents or guardians about your long term health, diet and fitness goals...

In the meantime -get yourself an account at fitday.com and keep track of calories (or sparkpeople.com just opened a site for teens, that might be better suited to your needs...

Getting rid of man boobs = moderate-to-high instense exercise + Diet + Chest toning exercises.

Chest toning exercises = pushups, bench press, and flyes
Diet = staying away from fattening foods such as sugars, fast foods, and processed carbs

moderate-to-high intense exercise = sports you like to play

I have man boobs too, and until reading this about "chess toning exercises", I was hoping the body fat would be an overall thing rather than spot reducing.

Now I'm a tad scared.

depends what it is, if its fat it will go its quite common for men to just have lots of excess tissue that wont go. thats called Gynecomastia

med student woo!!

i gained a set of those .. after having to take tagimet (not sure if that is spelled right) when i was in the 5th grade ...

right now with my change in eating .. and exercising .. i can tell they are going away... along with other areas to ... but at a slow rate of course ...

Well if it is Gynecomastia then you have to wait it out. If it is just fat then the above info is good.

ight, i get it now, i just have to stay away from school lunches and make healthy lunchs to take to school, and just play basketball and soccer?

Are you trying to say that Gynecomastia is the common reason for men to have man-breasts, and not just fat?

^ I asked the same question. I asked because my son when in the 7th grade had Gynecomastia, he is almost 17 and still has it. He is very thin though, so in his case it isn't fat. He inherited it from his father, who is overweight, but still has the condition. I suppose only a doctor can tell the difference.

Chest toning exercises = pushups, bench press, and flyes / How will that make his man-breasts go away?

The chest toning is used more for making the chest area look better but it does help build muscle which in turn leads to higher metabolism that burns total body fat and whenever...

You're trying to build a six pack or get rid of man boobs or flabby arms - make sure you concentrate most of your efforts on diet & exercise

ok thanks everyone

oh yea i wanted to ask wat kind of exercise i can do at home cuz its really cold up here in maine, and i don't want to go to the ymca, its to far from my house, and i only have 1 dumbbell the weight is 15, anyways plz help

Push-ups are a good start. Not an all in one for sure but you can go wide or narrow to work shoulders/chest and when it gets too easy switch to one hand. From there switch from one hand to another and eventually hand stand push-ups.

They are a good match for me as I'm about 260. Working against your body weight can be a real workout if you have extra weight. It might help you save some muscle when you lose the 50lbs you mentioned. Muscle burns calories so the more you keep the better.

As mentioned...pushups with hands close together seem to work the chest area. Build some solid muscle on your chest and when your body fat comes down + moobs thin out you'll have something solid to show underneath.

ight thnx man

The problem is it appears like you took from this thread the idea that resistance training will be your saving grace.

That's not the case.

Diet will be the primary vehicle to drive you toward your goal.

Exercises such as pushups and crunches will merely smooth out the ride. Remember, the ride is nothing without the car.

yea i know thats why i started my diet, i started it 2 days ago, so now i just need a home workout, anyone got a good homeworkout i can do?

check the stickied threads... you'll find lots of good info there

what type of diet did you start? what does your food plan look like?
