Male Weight Loss Journey -- One Day At A Time

Hey everyone! I'm pretty new to the forums. Since October 1st I have been using a calorie counter to educate myself about the food I eat and going to the gym 4 - 5 times a week. Like most people, I have always struggled with my weight and it has ballooned up and down for the past few years due to my college eating habits and laziness. I thought that using old pictures of myself would help keep me inspired as I see progress. Here is a picture of me approximately when I started at 237 pounds.

Age: 23

Height: 6'1"

SW 237

CW 220

GW 190

Starting weight: 237

Date: Beginning of October

(You can sort of see here how my stomach sticks out and my sides).

Current weight: 220

Date: November 12, 2011

(I think its kind of cool that I can see a faint line where my abs are!)

Thanks everyone! I can't wait to see how I look when I reach my goal weight of 190.

Welcome to the forums, takeitback! :)

Congrats on your weight loss so far! 17lb in a month and half is really great!

It's so exciting to see changes in your body, isnt' it? :D I've noticed the same thing with my own ab line :)

Can I ask what your exercise is like? And also, how tall are you?

Good luck on reaching your goals! Keep us posted :)

Thanks Frogged! Here's my typical workout schedule (about 4 - 5 times a week):

The first part of the weight came off really quickly. And now I'm mostly burning fat about 1 - 2 pounds a week, depending on my school schedule. My typical workouts include 30 - 45 minutes of cardio (stairsteppers, treadmill, elliptical) and about 30 minutes of weight training (basic free weights, machines). I alternate between taking Zumba and yoga classes at my college's fitness center during the week (about 2 classes).

About 3 times a week a friend and I are also doing a "Couch to 5K" jogging program so we can attempt a 5K in the spring.

I am about 6'1" without shoes on. :)

You know, unlike many of us, you don't seem to have fat deposits in your face which is a BIG plus. And 17 lbs in 1 n half month is remarkable. You're doing great.

I am 6'0'' and I weigh 218lbs and I want to be 175. Best of luck for your journey.

Yep, it always comes off fastest in the beginning, then begins to even out and come off slower later on. Even losing 0.5lb now per week is still good :)

Your routine sounds pretty nice! Keep it up, and good luck with your future 5K! :D
