male seeks to rid himself of disproportionate body

hello all,

I'm new to the forum. I have not had any weight issues and probably fall under the 'skinny-fat' category: since childhood I've had disproportionately sized thighs and calfs on a skinny abdomen/upper body.

I'm 21, 5'10 and 143 pounds (weighed between 135 and 170 since I was 14 but my height growth spread the fat more evenly in my lower body).

No, I never really participated in sports and tried to start a workout regiment during two consecutive summers (lasted 10 workouts the first time, i quit after the second workout the last time). I dont have muscled-up thighs, just extremely fat thighs, fat calves, an entirely fat butt and lovehandles = perfect recipe for a pear/hourglass - so how do I shed all of the excess fat from the waist down?

i would post a photo but its embarassing - I can if it is really necessary. What should I do to 1) kill all the excess fat in the thighs, 2) make both my calves and butt lean, 3) get rid of an hourglass figure (due to fat deposits not muscle)? Hiking? A certain type of workout routine? Long-distance running? Cross country? Swimming (can't swim)? Anyone who had my problems?

I know I'm asking a question but I'm not really sure weightlifting will solve any of my problems. My opinion is from my 143 pounds, 25-30 comes from this excess fat, to give you an idea...

PS: let me know if any pills/supplements would help/if yohimburn is right for me?

Any help answering any of these questions is highly appreciated. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!

Well, you can't spot reduce fat so the real question you should be asking is simply "how do I cut fat?"

The very simplified answer is:

1. Eat better. Meaning less processed foods and more whole/natural foods. Make sure you are eating enough protein and not filling up on empty calories like sugar.
2. Cardio. You'll get different opinions about how much/what you should do. I get the best results with running 5-6 days per week.
3. Weight train. Building muscle will raise your resting metabolic rate and will help you drop the fat.

Look around the forums for more information. As you probably know, getting started and sticking with it are the hardest parts. Good luck :)
