Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum here. I am in a unique situation for weight loss, and so bear with me as I explain; I'll try to be as concise as possible. Also, pardon the lack of detail, as it is in my best interest to keep things mostly anonymous.
I am a professional musician (the "classical" kind). I have an upcoming audition with a premier band for a branch of the military. Long story short, this is a "dream job" for me. The pay and benefits are absolutely amazing, and winning this audition would be one of the those "I have arrived" moments for me, and I would basically be set for life.
The problem is that I am overweight, and there is a weigh-in before the audition that I MUST make to even take the audition. Needless to say, if I wasn't allowed to audition because I was too fat....I would be devastated in more ways than one.
For my height, weight, and gender (male), I need to be 202 lbs at the audition. When I found this out through an interview, I was 227. Today, the audition is 24 days away, and I am 214 (I lost those 13 lbs in about 3.5 weeks). I have done some math on it, and given a food calorie allowance of 1500 calories a day, I need to achieve a caloric deficit of roughly 1800 calories a day, or slightly over .5lb. Factoring in my estimated BMR, that's roughly 1200 calories from activity (exercise/playing my instrument, everything else).
I am monitoring my progress daily with an excel sheet, using a weight average from 3 weigh-ins a day. The way I have set it up, if the number for "caloric deficit per day" goes down or stays the same, I'll make the weight. If that number goes up at any point, it means I am not losing enough weight per day and may not make it.
All that said, I have lost weight many times in my life, but never with this sort of hard deadline approaching. A couple things you should know before responding to my inquiry:
1) I know that 2 lbs a week is considered "healthy"
2) I know a good deal about nutrition, and my 1500 calorie allowance is ENTIRELY from whole foods. I am attempting roughly a 40/40/20 nutrient ratio.
3) I know that crash dieting leads to quick weight rebounding. I plan on easing slowing back in, after the audition, to avoid this issue.
4) I've already purchased a plane ticket to the audition...I'm going to go there no matter what.
My question is: Can anyone give me some suggestions as to the healthiest way possible for me to make this weight? This is not a long-term thing, just a 24-day period in which I MUST lose a certain amount of weight.
Thanks for reading!
