Maintenance

I am in the market to buy a power rack and power base. Among the places I would like to put it is a barn/shed room that's attached to my garage. The problem with this is the prevalence of moisture in the room. Due to a huge barn door and low insulation, when it's wet outside, it's pretty wet inside. My question is, would it be worth it to house several thousand dollars of equipment inside and expect good returns? Granted, water won't be dripping all over everything, but it will be exposed to lots of vapor and humidity.

Also, how would I go about maintaining this equipment to promote the greatest life? Tarps? Towels? Heaters?

I am thinking of purchasing

(most likley)
or
(probably not)
(definately)

Bloody hell Lei! You got some money to thow about!

How wet??? You could get a dehumidifyer, but they are expensive and I'm not sure it would do the job.
I would say to call up the manufacters but they would prob just tell you what you want to hear so that you buy the dam thing.

you could try outdoor paint, but you dont really wanna get a mass of new stuff and paint it right away.

For the price of a power rack you could get a wkd bar and some drop pads, and rubber plates!!!!! you know what that means!!

Hahaha what can I say, this is one of my only hobbies/interests, and I don't have a girl to thin my wallet out.

How wet? Probably as wet as you can get without direct contact with water droplets. I thoughts of the DHM as well, but that would be one big machine...

Hmmm you're right about the plates and pads...

HMMMMMMMMMMMMM

If you got money you could even get spoked plates so that you can use them for other exercises!!!!

dude get drop pads!!!!

drop pads

Lei, buy drop pads

I think I'll buy drop pads...

*mezmerized by your subliminal advertising*

Hmmm I think maybe I should just trade my whole set-up right now. I could just buy a power rack and adjustable bench, with rubber mats everywhere.

It's just that right now there are some great holiday shipping deals.

Anything that is painted should be no problem, any bare metal (like most barbell bars) would need to be oiled to prevent rusting, and any paint that chips or wears thin needs to be touched up. Otherwise everything should be OK.

Almost any oil would probably be adequate, 3 in 1 or WD40, or you might try gun oil (designed specifically for coating the bare metal pieces of a rifle or pistol to prevent rust). You can probably buy gun oil in the sporting goods section of K-Mart or WalMart or any sporting goods strore. Just put some on a rag and wipe it on.
