A good alternative, at least taste wise, is smoked almonds. I'm not a big nut fan, but I started eating these and they're practically addictive. The only problem is the higher sodium content.
 
Pretty much any nut is good for you if eaten raw. Macadamia nuts have a high content of oleic acid (omega-9s).

But yeah, raw walnuts (kept in the freezer) are far superior.
