LynnZs Diary

Okay...I registered today and decided to start my diary today :) I'm still learning my way around the site...but once I've got it mastered I'll post pictures in my diary...for some reason pictures help me. I not only keep before and during (not after, there will never be any "after" pictures as this is a life long goal) pictures of myself but I cut out pictures of healthy looking models and tape them to my fridge...it helps late at night when I realllllly want that last mini ice-cream sandwich :p My husband is a Infantry Soldier in the US Army, currently deployed to Iraq. During a “normal” day for him he gets up at 4am and does PT, then there are the “training” days where he does physical activities all day and night. Needless to say he is well fit and healthy…I want to keep up with him :) I decided I would be in shape and healthy by the time he returns from war…I took a break (okay more of a crying, pity party, overeating, excuse making, six month break) when he first left…I promised myself on the half way mark that I would work on balancing my life like I had promised myself I would in the beginning.
I am not looking so much to loose weight...well who am I kidding, I want to loose weight...but more than that I want to maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle…I want to look and feel young way into my golden years :) So...my diary journey begins:

I guess I should start by saying...

* I am 23 years old.

* 5 feet 7 inches.

* I am not a smoker and drug free.

* I started this year out at around 150lbs. (size 8/10)

* I now weigh 135lbs. (size 6)

* I want to weigh 120lbs. (size 4)

-- How much weight do you want to lose?

15 lbs.

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?

I would like to reach my goal by mid summer…by the time my husband returns from Iraq.

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?

I have cut out all sodas. I only drink water, fat free milk, V8 juice and Soymilk. (I have the occasional glass of wine but lately I’ve been thinking about cutting that out completely)
I cut back on all refined sugar.
I eat smaller portions slowly and I keep healthy snacks on hand (almonds, raisins, rice cakes, kashi bars...)
I joined the Y and I work out daily...
With that being said I do allow myself a cheat day  I have found that I don’t over eat on my cheat days...b/c my body no longer craves junk food...so on my cheat day I tend to work out less and maybe slip in the last mini ice-cream sandwich :p
My workouts are balanced…between cardio and weight training. I also recently started taking a Pilates class.
I get 8 hrs of sleep at night (or at least I try reallllly hard to).
I signed up for the Charleston Bridge run and I’m looking in to signing up for a few more runs this year :D

--Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
I have a work out buddy…a girl at work goes to the gym with me, that helps.
I’m hoping this forum will be another support system.

-- How realistic is your goal?
I think my goal is very realistic…everyone deserves to be healthy and happy. That’s all I’m aiming for :)

--When will you start?
I started January 1st of this year :)

I'm looking forward to keeping this diary...I'm very honest and can handle any constructive criticism and positive suggestions so feel free to fire away :)

welcome lynn to your diary :D and congratulations for making a decision to change your life.
this place is really helping me...hopefully it will be the same for you

Of course the day I decide to start a diary I get sick and dont make it to the gym...**sigh** I'm now at home laying in the bed feeling weak. I'll make it up tomorrow doing double workouts :) I'm off to sleep this virus off.

On a side note...I cant eat without getting sick...so at least I'm not laying in bed harboring unused calories :) right?! lol.

Hi, I am Steve. Welcome aboard. :)

Hope you feel better tomorrow and don't sweat the missed workout. I wouldn't play catch up tomorrow either. Just hop back on the wagon once you are better.

Welcome to the forum, I think you have set very realistic goals and you definatly know what you need to do to achieve them. See ya 'round!

Glad you found your way here. This site can be extremely supportive. I know it has helped me through the times where I have wanted to give up.

Good luck.

Maybe you want to join one of the challenges. Those have helped me to stay on track & pushed me to keep exercising. :)

I def. want to try a challenge...I've been looking in to them :)

I'm so glad I took a day off from working out yesterday and let my body rest...I feel much better today :) Which is good b/c I'm in a wedding this weekend. Anyways...yesterday I had no appetite...so I hardly ate. When I woke up this morning I was starving (one sign of feeling better, right?!) So for breakfast I have had:
1 Cup instant oatmeal...the kind w/ nuts and raisins :p (140 cal)
1/2 bottle of Light & Fit strawberry banana smoothie (30 cal)

I know I should eat more for breakfast...b/c that is the meal I generally eat the most at...but I really feel full, I couldnt even finish the smoothie, I think its b/c I havent been able to eat in a few days so maybe my stomache shrunk a bit, lol. I'm sure I'll be hungry again soon so I packed some almonds and rice cakes for snakc today.

Since I missed working out yesterday, I've decided to go to the gym a bit early today and run on the eliptical for 30min before my pilates class.

Days off can be hard to take, sometimes I just want to work out hard every night in the hopes that I will see some progress faster, but from what I have heard they can be very beneficial to your body. Especially if you aren't feeling well.

Glad you are feeling better & have fun at the gym!

I was away from the computer this weekend...cousins wedding...I ate horribly as well. The wedding food was so yummy :) but I'm back on track today. I allow myself a cheat day anyways...so the wedding day was my cheat day...but I probably ate to much for my cheat day. Oh well, wedding cake is the devil :p

This morning for breakfast: packet of oatmeal (140 cal) and a spoon full of natural pnut butter.

Lunch is going to be a grilled chicken wrap, with 2tbs of light honey mustard and some cheese.

I think I'll grill a piece of tilipia for dinner.

Tonights workout will be...cardio :) my fav. 1hr on the eliptical and 30min on the stair step thingy.

I bought new weights this weekend...mine were starting to feel to whimpy.

Okay--snack consisted of a hand full of multigrain rice cakes, A hand full of almonds, and a pack of raisins. (oh and I had a boiled peanut or two :) )

Lunch--chicken/cheese/spinach/light honey mustard wrap and a handful of pretzels.

Snack--V8 juice and a slice of all wheat banana blueberry bread.

I decided against the tilipia and I'm having dill salmon instead, yum.

worked with my new weights for a bit during lunch today.

My husband emailed pictures of himself to me...more motivation to get hot for his return ;)

So I ran on the eliptical last night for 55min. I changed it up between running(hard to breath and couldnt talk) and walking (could easily breath and talk). Hoping to get out of this rutt.

Todays menu:

Breakfast: Packet of oatmeal, pack of raisins, handfull of almonds.

Snack: Kashi pumpkin spice granola bar.

Lunch: Grilled chicken/spinach/cheese salad w/ light honey mustard. Piece of bananablueberry whole wheat bread.

Snack: Hand full of blueberries with light yogurt, mini pack of raisins and a handfull of almonds.

Dinner will most likely be cereal or salmon...which ever I am in the mood for and have time for when I get home from the gym :)

Tonight is 17min ab blast and 1hr kickboxing :)

I'm going to copy and paste a post I just posted in 20lb club forum....its easier that way and I want to have this written in my journal for future reference...lol, like the next time I have the bright idea to use a new face wash:

Ugh-so I bought these new face wipes to wash my face with after work before I hit the gym....and I must be allergic to them!!! Yesterday and today both my face has swollen, itchy, red, and burning!! I couldnt figure out yesterday what could have caused the reaction...so once again last night I used the face wipes again...this morning...my face is WORSE!! So I think I'm pretty sure its the wipes....yikes!!! So I took benedryl and now I'm sitting at my desk about to pass out, I'm so tired....I couldnt sleep last night b/c if my face touched the bed or pillow it started to itch...so I know that contributes to my tired state of mind. I find that eating keeps me awake...so I've been snacking on almonds and raisins...but even that adds up in the calorie department so I finally had to break down and get a cup of coffee and put the snacks away...I dont drink coffee either...just water, v8juice and skim milk....I'm still stuck in this 135lb rutt and want to loose another 10lbs...but at this rate I'm going to stay here...what to do what to do....I do have a pilates class tonight...yay. Why is it so hard for us to loose weight once we've gotten down to a certain size? I'm mixing my routine up and eating healthy....**Sigh**
My face is itching, my eyes are swollen and I'm soooo sleepy!!! I know its no excuse...but I keep grabbing snacks b/c it makes me feel better and keeps me awake....UGH.

So for breakfast: kashi granola bar and a cup of kashi cereal w/ skim milk (avg. 300 cals)

Snack: pack of raisins, handfull of almonds, a few snack size quaker rice cakes and a protein bar (all of this is probably 300 cals :( )

Lunch: Banana peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread. 20mini pretzels and string cheese :)

Snack: Grapes, yum.

Dinner: Kashi cereal, 4 pretezels w/ hummus and a small bowl of blueberries and strawberries w/ light yougurt.

Tonight is pilates :) I cycled for 20min and then went to pilates class, nice workout :)

I've GOT to get in shape, I'm sick of the loose flab around my muscles!!! I know I can do it...I'm just getting sick of sitting at this weight (135lb) and not budging.
I enjoyed the fit and firm workout last night along w/ the ab blast class...my legs are soar this morning, so I know I got a workout :)

So my face looks a little better...thats good. Still itches a bit but the swelling and red splotches arent as bad :) I really think it was the face wipes I was using...oh well, live and learn.

I enjoyed Pilates last night...I tried to push myself harder than usual b/c I'm SICK of the scale not moving...its not really the scale that bugs me as much as I dropped from a size 8 to a size 6...and I'm not moving, yeah my pants fit...but they fit as well as they did 2 weeks ago...I'm just not going anywhere...blah....I'm mixing my workout routines up...just dont know what else to do...guess I'll keep truckin' on until I either loose some flab staring back at me in the mirror or finally fit into a size4 or find another way to loose this weight! I really want to be firm by summer time!!

Breakfast: Cup of Kashi GoLean Crunch with a cup of Skim milk.

I've already prepared my lunch so when I go home for my 1hr I just have to throw it on the stove:
Lunch: Omelet (2 egg whites and 1whole egg, mushrooms, 1/4cup 2%cheddar cheese and onions) I'll probably toast a piece of bread to go along w/ that...I dunno, I'll just update later :)

Excercise tonight: Well, right now it is sooo pretty out so I'm thinking about taking my lunch later in the evening so I only have an hour or so left at work when I get back, that way my dog can stay in the car while I finish up at work...then I'll take him for a run down by the river. If not I'll just end up at the gym on the eliptical.

patience -as long as youo are doing what you need to do - you'll get there.... this is a lifetime change not a quick fix - but you know that :)

hope you get to go for a run by the river - sounds like the doggie would enjoy it :)

hey lyn maybe you need to change something in your nutrition. how much calories approximately are you taking daily? and are you drinking enough water?

I weighed in this morning at 133...maybe I am finally getting there :)

I only drink water...water, one can of v8 juice a day, and skim milk. I'm trying to eat only whole foods...I do a fairly good job...I wonder if my calories are too low...but I eat when I'm hungry and I eat healthy snacks...and I dont over eat...I doing the fit day journal...so I'll keep an eye on that :)

Breakfast: Cinnamon and Spice Oatmeal and a few grapes.

Snack: A handful of Almonds and a mini pack of raisins.

Lunch: I have an omelet (2eggwhites and 1whole egg, 1/4cup 2% cheddar cheese, mushrooms, and onions) mixed up in the fridge and ready to be cooked for lunch :) Maybe a piece of toast to go along.

Snack: cereal bar (90 cal)

Dinner: I'm thinking its going to be a protein shake b/c I dont feel like cooking tonight...and I'm not in the mood for cereal...the doctor put me on some meds for my allergies and its making me sleepy. edit: I did have a protein shake yum :)

Excercise tonight: 1hr run on the eliptical...I also have a meeting w/ one of the fitness coaches at the gym at 6pm I'm thinking about joining the new technogym which uses heart rate monitors and a "fitness key". The key is used to log in in the beginning of the excercise, it reads and records your heart rate and measurements and then you start a 35min routine w/ a heartrate monitor that keeps you at your target heart rate for the entire work out (minus warm up and down). Think it might help the plateau...even though I may have already broken through the 135 one. :)

So I tried the Technogym last night...it was okay. It keeps your heart rate at your target rate for a full 35min...which is nice...but I dont know if its worth the extra money...I'm pretty good about keeping my heart rate up when I'm working out anyways...so we'll see.
I weighed in this morning and was at 132.4...which is good b/c obviously I'm loosing but I'm afraid its only b/c I'm on medicine for the rash that broke out on my face (yeah, its finally gone!!) but I think it made me loose my appetite.

Breakfast: 1 cup Kashi Autumn Harvest wheat squares w/ 1 cup skim milk.
Snack: Half of a large Banana, handful of Soy chips.
Lunch: Grilled Chicken Salad from Zaxbys w/ honey mustard dressing and half a piece of texas toast, yum :)
Snack: V8 Juice(30 cal) and cherrydark chocolate kashi granola bar(120 cal).
Dinner: I dunno yet...edit: okay I ended up eating a tommato sandwich (two pieces of wholewheat bread w/ miracle whip (just a bit) and two huge slices of fresh tomato). 20 mini pretezels w/ a bit of red pepper hummus :) Yum

Tonights workout is Kickboxing :D and 17 min ab blast.
