Lunasa's RAW 30 day challenge!

Hello everyone!

I've been a long time creeper of this site but I never really contributed. I've struggled with weight since my early teens (I'm 19 now) and I've tried many things (Scarsdale, South Beach, Curves program, etc) and obviously none of them worked. I've FINALLY come to the realization that nothing is going to work until I make a lifestyle change.

So I am going to try and go on a completely raw diet for 30 days. I've always been interested in going vegan and I've been doing a lot of research into raw eating lately. It sounds really interesting so I thought I would try 30 days to ease myself into veganism.

So what is a raw diet if you don't know? You eat a primarily vegan diet (no animal products or by-products) made up of only fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. However, you can only eat these things fresh and uncooked (hence the RAW). What really turned me onto raw is this movie that I saw called 'RAW for Thirty' Here's a link:

(link deleted)

In the movie, a group of 6 diabetic people are put on a raw diet for 30 days and the results are amazing. Most go off of their medications and insulin, and the type 1 diabetics start actually producing insulin. It's wild.

I feel like this diet is going to do wonders for my health and I'm really excited!

Please comment if you have an opinion on raw food or advice of any kind! :D

So I completed the first day of my challenge yesterday and I wanted to outline what I ate, and some thoughts.

Breakfast: Smoothie (bananas, blueberries, hemp seed, water)

Lunch: Salad (Spinach, strawberries, sugar snap peas, green peppers) A weird combo I know but I didn't have much to throw together at that time.

Dinner Cucumber Wraps (avacado spread on a long slice of cucumber wrapped up with spinach and green peppers)

Various Snacks: carrots, pineapple, everything is organic.

I feel surprisingly good. My skin is brighter, my hair is shinier, and I feel lighter overall. I guess the dreaded 'detox' hasn't hit me yet. I really hope it doesn't.

Yesterday was hard though, I really wanted some ice cream at the end of the night. Instead I had some 99% cacao chocolate, which was intense and bitter but I feel I can come to like it.

Best of luck with your 30 day challenge! I've also been interested in trying a raw diet. Summer is definitely the best time to do something like this, with all the fresh produce in season. Are you using any specific recipe books? I'm really interested in seeing what you eat to keep variety in your diet.

I've learned about raw diets from a few former WLF members. At first I was like OKEY DOKEY hell no would I do this. But the more I read about this, and about PH balance in the body, the more interested I become. I know I dont have it in me to go completely raw, but I can sure replace meals whenever possible with raw stuff, right? Are you eating the sprouted grain bread, or are you considering that cooked? I'm confused about this..
