Lower back pain

I have lower back pain, and just wondered if anyone else suffers from this. I have been to a PT before for it and have exercises to do. Just wanted to chat with anyone who is in the same boat as me.

I work at an office so I know what you mean. When sore, I stretch it out as often as possible, ice it, use ibuprofen, and get a massage when it's real bad. Stretching seems the best for me on a consistent basis, usually a few yoga poses and then other ones I've found on the internet. Issue is making time for it - hard to do many at the office. Also need to be warm to get better results.

I have suffered with chronic lower back pain.In fact, for 15 long years, I was unable to lead a normal life, even the simplest of tasks were a struggle, my whole quality of life, and day to day activities revolved around my Sciatica, Spinal Stenosis, and lower back pain.

Some things that can help a lot:
1. Corrective exercises (like mckenzie press ups, etc.)
2. Keeping good posture during everyday activity ... This includes sitting. You can help this by putting something like a rolled up towel between your back and the chair while you're seated, as this helps you sit up straight for longer periods of time. <- useful for office workers, etc.
3. Learning to brace your core. If you have to pick something up, your best chance of doing it painlessly is by bracing your core, and this is also an important injury prevention thing. You MUST do this during lifts like deadlifts when you're at the gym as well. Very important.

I currently have slight acute lower back pain due to an accident at the gym, and I'm focusing on those three things above, which is working out very well. Also, REST is important, don't stress your back further if it's already hurting you. Seeing a physio is also important, as it is more personal and can often give you a better result than sites like youtube, etc.

go and seek out a pressure point therapist.

I have had back pain for years. Got a fifteen minute trigger point therapist massage, my pain went away instantly. Then she gave me exercises to do which have been great.

Other than that, take regular breaks from your seated position. it's a pain, but it's the only way.

Pain in lower back is largely caused by increased pressure on the back from too much sitting, inactivity, or loss of strength in the back muscles. In fact, there is plenty of research that shows back pain is largely tied to weak back muscles.

Fortunately, you can strengthen your lower back muscles to relieve back pain from the comfort of your own home. You don’t need to go to the gym or buy any special equipment. All you need is about 15 minutes per day!

As you perform the following lower back pain exercises more frequently and your back muscles begin to strengthen, you’ll notice an improved range of motion and be able to go much further without experiencing pain.

Lower Back Pain Exercises #1: Bottom to Heels Stretch

1. Kneel on all fours with your heels beneath your hips and hands beneath your shoulders—don’t over-arch your back.
2. Keep your shoulders back and neck outstretched—don’t lock your elbows. (Think of how a dog appears when it’s at high attention.)
3. Slowly move your rear end backwards, maintain the natural curve of the spine. (Don’t hunch your shoulders over.)
4. Go as far as you can—leaving your hands in place the whole time—and hold the position for one deep breath.
5. Perform eight to 10 repetitions.

Hello,

I also work at office and have lower back pain almost everyday. I try to do Yoga every morning and exercise. However, I still can't get this pain gone. I mean it stay fine for sometime and then starts again. I can't even sit in the chair in my office for more then an hour.

Hope this get's well soon!

Regards,

Well I will suggest that better you can take a massage from some one with an painkiller balm, if that does not help, you can go for Ice and Heat therapy, where you apply Ice bag over the point of Pain, for 2-4 days, then, hot water bag over your point of pain. Repeat this for a week or two, but if the pain is still there for more than 4 weeks, you need to see a chiropractor near you.

Pain in the lower back (lumbar spine) and legs, among other symptoms, may occur when an intervertebral disc herniates - when the annulus fibrosus (tough, outer ring) of the disc tears and the nucleus pulposus (soft, jelly-like center) squeezes out, and places pressure on, or "pinches," an adjacent nerve root.

Lumbar microdiscectomy is an operation that involves using a surgical microscope and microsurgical techniques to access and treat the lumbar spine. By providing magnification and illumination, the microscope allows for a limited dissection. Only that portion of the herniated disc, which is pinching one or more nerve roots, is removed. The term discectomy is derived from the Latin words discus (flat, circular object or plate) and -ectomy (removal).

As per my opinion, Lower back pain can be caused by a variety of problems with any parts of the complex, interconnected network of spinal muscles, nerves, bones, discs or tendons in the lumbar spine. Until you did not find the exact reason, you can't overcome on that.

Typical sources of low back pain include:

The large nerve roots in the low back that go to the legs may be irritated
The smaller nerves that supply the low back may be irritated
The large paired lower back muscles (erector spinae) may be strained
The bones, ligaments or joints may be damaged
An intervertebral disc may be degenerating

I hope this will help you to know your pain source and you can overcome on that.

There are many reason due to which the Back pain arise:action: like, 1. Sudden accident, injury or trauma, such as a fall or lifting a heavy object improperly 2.Bone fractures 3.Muscle or ligament strains 3.Arthritis 4.Herniated discs 5.Degenerative disc disease 6.Aging 7.Obesity 8.Poor physical fitness and lack of exercise
9. Scoliosis 10.Spinal stenosis 11.Sudden, abnormal twisting 12.Smoking 13.Malnutrition and Infections.
Compared to other medical conditions, there are relatively few standardized approaches to diagnosis and treatment of back problems. Spine specialists from various areas of expertise (such as physical medicine and rehabilitation, chiropractic, osteopathic medicine, physical therapy and surgery) will often disagree on the diagnosis and most appropriate treatment plan for back pain and back problems, and specialists within a discipline will also frequently have different opinions. A few diagnoses for back pain as a result of back a back problem are relatively straightforward (such as a spinal tumor, infection, or fracture) and there is generally more consensus for diagnosis and treatment of these back problems. Hello Denise,
Having suffered from lower back pain I know how you feel! It can be a real challenge to resolve and very painful.
Have you considered tight hip flexors?

You can try acupressure to minimize lower back pain, B28 or Bladder 28 is a local acupressure point for hip pain that is located two chon apart on both sides of the spine, in level with the fifth lumbar vertebrae. This acupressure point is also known as the Bladder Shu and it is useful for alleviating sacral back and hip pain and sciatica.

Obviously, lower back pain is a common occurrence in the modern world, as most of us spend a large amount of time in a stationary sitting position. It is also interesting that now it affects not only the elderly due to age-related changes, but increasingly young people. Yes, and I'm no exception. Due to the fact that this is my job, I give a big load on my back. And sometimes the pain in my lower back makes my life hell. I decided to do something about it, as my patience ran out. I studied a large array of information, and formed my own version of the fight against low back pain. First, 2-3 times a week I attend massage sessions, 2 times a week I do yoga. But the most important component, to be honest, is chiropractic sessions. Yes, many people are skeptical about this method now, but it is effective, I assure you. I was initially in the group of skeptics, until I got acquainted with the information on Chiropractic treatment . In my personal experience, I will say that it is worth a try. I am not a professional, and I understand perfectly well that everything depends on the characteristics of the body. But why not try it?
