lower back herniated disk

I am 27 , I found out I had a herniated disk 5 years ago.
It bothers me when i sit for long periods of time or when I do sometype of heavy lifting. I am always careful when I lift things around the house.
My questions is, is it ok to do light weight bench pressing?
and do any of you guys know any treatments for herniated disks?

thanks for your answers

Herniation of the "L" vertebraes will effect your lower body's ability to do pelvic tilt and rotation GREATLY.

Before embarking on a regiment, I highly recommend you see a GOOD physical therapist. It will only cost a few sessions but it will be worth the bucks if he/she is good.

I have worked with plenty of people with spinal herniations. I can tell you I wouldn't be able to do you much justice unless I was able to assess your ranges of motion in your joints.

Here are some pointers to get you started:
Do more pulling exercises than pushing with flat back NOT ARCHED form
Standup more than you sit down
Learn to incorporate proper posture and core dominated movements into you workouts
