Could someone explain in basic terms the affects of doing either Low Weight High Reps/High Weight Low Reps does to the muscles because I just simply try to stick to 6-12 reps.
Low weight hight reps activates certain muscle fibres built for endurance and prolonged use.
High weight low reps activates muslce fibres that allow for massive bursts of energy but very short term use.
Traditionally, high reps (8-12) is for size gains, not so much strength gains though. Lower reps are for strength gains, you can gain some size too, but it is mainly for strength, I'm a pretty firm believer in the low reps for strength as I've had pretty good personal experience with it
