In June, I first felt some pain on the lower part of my inner thigh, close to my knee. In the summer I was doing a lot of exercise. I did a lot of yoga and strength training video tapes (Jackie Warner, Jillian Michaels, etc.). I often felt this straining, pulling, or tingling sensation in this lower section of my thigh. It wasn't too bad, and I only noticed it occasionally, usually when I was doing some sort of warrior pose in yoga. Also, I would notice it when I sat cross-legged. Towards the end of August, the pain was more frequent and now I was experiencing knee pain. The knee pain almost felt like the cartilage or something was rubbing; there was some sort of resistance. In September, I went to an orthopedic doctor, and she gave me a set of exercises to do. A month later, after worse pain, I finally started going to physical therapy. I continued to experience the joint pain in my knee and the strange sensation in my lower inner thigh. At times my knees (because at this point I felt the pain mostly in my knees) were feeling fine, and then I would start exercising again, and they would start hurting again, and this exercise would trigger the inner thigh pain. I feel almost as though the initial injury was due to some sort of over-use in the inner thigh and somehow the damaged muscle is causing pain in the knee because it cannot function properly. For a couple of weeks, I was experiences very little pain (I wasn't exercising at this time), and I had my last physical therapy appointment after going there twice a week for seven weeks. That was two weeks ago and my pain is much worse now than it was then. At the moment I have almost no knee pain. However, the past two days my lower inner thigh pain has been much more intense. I used to only feel it after I exercised, but now I feel it all the time. My physical therapist said the muscle was called the VMO. However, I almost feel like it is my sartorius. I feel the pain when I sit cross-legged and that uses the sartorius muscle. Also, the pain was at first right above the knee on the inner thigh and now it is a little bit lower than that. This also leads me to believe that it is the sartorius because the sartorius has a curve to it. However, I am not a doctor or physical therapist or anything so I could be entirely wrong. If anyone has any input, it would be greatly appreciated. I have had this pain for six months, and feel as though I have not gotten anyway. Any help is much appreciated!!
