Sport Low fat - high carbs

Sport Fitness
Hi all

Just wanted to share some thoughts with you on some issues i have been having.
About a year ago, on my doctors advice i went on a low sat fat diet to bring down my cholesterol levels.
The good news is that the level has come down from around 6.7 to 5.2 in that year.
However for this diet i have increased my carb intake to try and compensate for the low fat.
I exercise 5 days a week on a spin bike (about 30 mins at a moderate level).
Reading a lot of articles online it seemed that a diet high in carbs was a good thing when you workout/exercise a lot.
I am pretty thin (80kg / 6ft 2) so i wanted to at least not lose weight on this diet so i have been eating a lot of whole grain bread and pasta/rice.

About 6 months ago i got a high blood sugar reading from a blood test along with bouts of dizziness. Since then i have had another blood test with the blood sugar reading in the normal range.
I also am getting skin irritations on my feet, which take a long time to heal and i have read this can be related to poor blood sugar levels.

So basically what i am trying to say is beware if you are thinking of going on a low sat fat diet as it can alter the balance of your nutrition - you could end up with a top heavy level of carbs which isnt good.

Cheers

Mackabee.
