Lot of stress lately with family, gaining weight, getting lazy, need a plan!!

Whats up all,

I'm a 19 yr old male, around 215 lbs and 5'8. I've had a lot going on in my life lately, whether its unfortunate family problems or my pre-medical studies, and other stuff. I've gotten lazy with working out and even playing basketball which i used to play a lot, also tennis and football. So now I'm getting lazy and even embarrassed to put on workout clothes and go to the gym, which is not my favorite because i'm not comfortable with my body.

So i guess what i'm asking is for a simple weight loss program/diet i can start from just at home and has generally quick results. Not looking to go to the gym yet until i feel more comfortable going there. Maybe a good system of pushups and sit-ups i can do in my room would be good. Because, I do live in a small apartment with roommates and don't really want to do cardio in the living room from a DVD. I don't mind running but again, being uncomfortable with my body, doing it outside and stuff is a little embarrassing. So i guess I'm a bit self-conscious of my body.

I looked at the "Better Body System by Yoli", but i'm not sure what else.

Any tips or suggestions or reality checks are greatly appreciated!
