Im around 5'8- always been a little on the heavier side and ALWAYS had an issue staying out of the fridge. I never ate because of depression or any stresses in life. I just love food. It's fantastic. But I woke up one morning and said to myself- I am not going to be miserably fat the rest of my life- I need to get this taken care of now while I'm young...so I'm 30 lbs down and still have a ways to go! Still would like to lose 50 more lbs before I am at my goal weight. Feedback would be appreciated...or ANY suggestions you have to help avoid those annoying cravings..

Congratulations on your success so far, keep it up! I'm sorry to tell you that at least for me, the cravings never went away. I love sweets and salty stuff and there would be nights when I laid in bed and fantasized about all the stuff I wanted to eat. It was just mind over matter at that point. I would ask myself 'what do I want more? A piece of (insert tasty morsel here) or to finally reach my goal weight'? Usually that helped. Sometimes I slipped up and ate too much but I'd just be sure to get back to my regular eating and exercising the next day. Stay strong, you can do this!

thanks, I know it'll be incredibly hard....especially when the weight loss slows down a bit. working out is my biggest downfall...I need motivation!!

Gorgeous, ahladnik!

Congrats on your weight loss! You look awesome in your pictures and I wish you continued success! :)

I hope you utilize these forums to the fullest! There's a lot of great people and support to be found here :) Perhaps start a diary? That's an awesome way to meet some of the other members on this forum that know what you're going through. It also really helps to hold yourself accountable :)

As far as cravings, I've found gum to be vital! I've lost a significant amount of weight over the last few years, and I doubt I would've been as successful had it not been for gum chewing :) I can recommend you my favorite brand and flavor if you're interested :)

Anyway, best of luck to you, ahladnik! You're doing great and, remember, one of the most important aspects of losing weight is to just never give up. As long as you keep going, you'll get there :)

Thanks all- I'm excited to be apart of this forum! I look forward to getting more advice from you all here about what has worked and not worked for you- hopefully it will make the process easier for me!

Losing a little bit more weight in my face. I had a bit of a slump for a while and decided to go on Nutrisystem. Have lost 7 more lbs since and its been about 2 weeks :)) Has anyone else tried Nutrisystem?? Also, what are some good workout tips- that is my downfall. I absolutely hate it but have to do it.

Congratulations so far. As far as exercise, you might try a few different activities and find what you like best. Walking is a great exercise for weight loss. Consider getting an mp3 player and listen to music or audio books while you are walking. I don't like treadmills so I just walk around my neighborhood or along a river by my house. I also do lap swim which is a great workout and low impact on joints.

As far as cravings, consider drinking more water. Also, if I have a craving, I try to have some oatmeal. It's really filling, healthy, and not too many calories. I prefer Quaker Instant Oatmeal Maple and Brown sugar. It's only 160 calories and you just add water and it's ready in about 90 seconds in the microwave. I also try to have more healthy snacks throughout the day like yogurt, fruit, vegetables, or a granola bar. At meals, I try to use portion control.
