Lost 18lbs in 2 weeks...bad??

Hey guys, im brand new here. here's a little bit of history on me before i get to my real question. I'm 21, 5yrs ago, i weighed 240, and within 4-6 months I dropped down to 180..i lifted weights twice a day n decided to eat right for a change. after a year or so, i gained it all back.

NOW, i want to keep it off, and keep it off for good. I started doing what I did 5yrs ago, lifting weights...since It worked for me before.

I started lifting again about 2 weeks ago. 2 weeks ago, I weighed in at 235lbs. I went to www.fitday.com n i logged in the foods i ate..n started eating more protein n less carbs. When i checked in today, i weighed in at 217. I was so surprised. Then i remembered hearing that you SHOULD be losing 1.5-2lbs per week. Is this ok?...losing 18lbs in merely 2 weeks? I'm doing what I think i should be doing..eating right..n exercising. Im not starving myself, i eat throughout the day in smaller portions. Is this normal?

btw im 5'10..217lbs as of now n my goal weight is 180 by august-september.

Hi

It is normal to drop your first few pounds pretty quickly. Men tend to lose weight much more quickly then women. I wouldn't worry about that quick weight loss initally but it's not very healthy if you keep it up. As long as you are not starving your body then I would think you are doing alright. Also people who have more weight to lose can also lose more rapidly than those who have less to lose.

i agree with jenn. it's your first week. the first few pounds drop rather quickly cause some of it is water weight too don't forget. also the heavier you are, the faster one tends to lose weight usually. i wouldn't worry about it unless the speed of weight loss is really fast and continuous. then i'd consult a doctor about it.
