Hello everybody. I decided it was time to get in shape and I have been taking it seriously. I've been at it for about 10 weeks and dropped 37 lbs. I quit smoking too and my wife cannot believe what I've been doing. Problem is I now have developed elbow tendinitis and a bum knee. The knee is getting better but my arm is shot. I have a very strenuous job so I really need to be mobile and strong. Long story short, no more resistance training and I gotta lighten up my cardio. So what does this do to my diet ? I've been taking in about 1800-2000 calories a day and around 170 grams of protein. I'm 6-5 and weigh 320. I want to be around 265. I am hell bent on continuing but don't know what to do. I can't find any articles about how to proceed. Any input is welcome.

Hello Chudwick If you are going to lighten you cardio (Probably because of your knee) and your resistance training because of your elbow you may want to decrease your calorie intake. The BMI calorie scales are pretty much a guide and you do not have to follow so literally. Also you may want to try some sort of copper infused sleeve for your elbow and knee. This may allow you to continue your workouts, perhaps not as strenuously but you will still keep doing some work. If you were running which is tough on the knees, then you may want to switch to brisk walking. If you couple that with a modified calorie intake it could do the trick

Joint pain while losing weight occurs due to the overweighted body. As we start exercising our body starts experiencing the pain and starts to mold in the shape and therefore the joint pain. It is very important for a person to eat healthy food like sprouts, green vegetables, meat, eggs white, fruits and all that provides protein.

Maybe you want to start with yoga and stretching to fix as much as you can your joint pain. Also, if done properly yoga can burn quite a few calories. Don't change your eating habits, leave your caloric deficit ON and keep on doing what you are doing. In the meantime, go see a doctor and consult with him about your joint pain and what to do next to relieve it. Hope I could help.
