Losing before spring break and protein shake?

I'm currently 19, 145 pounds with about 15 percent body fat at 5'8. I'm trying to get lean with 10-12 percent body fat before spring break and I go through periods of working out off and on. I've always tried to do it naturally before but this time I tried to incorporate protein shakes because I'm dieting having a low calorie but also having enough protein to make sure I'm not only gaining muscle but keeping it. I've been reading online and different sources say different things about post workout shake. Some say to maximize fat loss its not a good idea while others say its essential. Seeing that I only have about a month till spring break I don't want to waste a week or so seeing the results and whether or not I should continue taking the shakes although I have seen a lot of progress since I started muscle wise. I dont think there is a significant fat loss yet considering its only been a week and I havent been on cardio as I should because of the cold weather. Next week I will start cardio with high interval training. I'm asking if anyone else had good results in fatloss using protein shakes and if theres any additional tips to reach my goal. Thanks for the help!

Interval training is a great idea. I think this will be your best bet to get in shape for spring break.

One suggestion I have is complex training. I find complexes are better because they are built more off resistance training, rather than doing cardiovascular work.
