We are supposed to eat more than we think we are. We are conditioned to believe that eating less means we will weigh less. It's funny how super active, buff people eat more than skinny, boney people. Think about it. Do you honestly think pro athletes or fitness bunnies or triathletes or personal trainers eat 1200 calories...1500 calories each and every day? No way. We eat a lot more than that.
We have that luxury. We have a lot of toned, lean muscle mass that we need to feed. So we get to eat and be satisfied and not worry about gaining fat. We are feeding our muscles. Those that eat less... starve their muscles. Then they eat less and less... their body thinks they are starving so it holds on to its fat (for vital organ protection and warmth) and EATS its own muscle.
Crazy, huh? Eating less means your body has to find energy from somewhere... well I'll be darned... it'll just eat your muscle. So much for looking lean and toned.
There are several other threads on this forum about eating a balanced diet while in school. Eat breakfast, then have a snack around 9 or 9:30. Even a protein bar is better than nothing. Eat it in between walking to classes if you have to. Eat lunch. Eat when you get home from school. Eat dinner. Eat an evening snack. Bed.
Your snacks and meals should all be healthy. One protein and one carb. Breakfast: egg whites and oatmeal
School Snack: Protein Bar or Fruit (I know it's hard to eat during school)
Lunch: Salad with Chicken on Top
After School Lunch: Baked Potato and Cottage Cheese
Dinner: Whatever mom cooks. Limit it to a protein and veggies...lots of veggies
Evening Snack: Cheese and Turkey Roll Up
Is this perfect...no. But it's something you can do and it's better than Oreos
