lose weight + gain muscle

i want to gain muscle, and lose weight at the same time...i want to be taking protein shakes as part of my diet as well. each shake would be 400 calories, with 50 grams of protein, and i want to have about 150 grams each day, which translates into 1200 calories, if im only supposed to have 1500 calories a day to lose weight does that mean i should have those three shakes plus only one other meal?

ive always wondered the same thing cuz i also want to acheive less weight and more muscle at the same time

but ive looked at some of those shakes, they have such high calories... does that mean we are supposed to make are meals a lot smaller to compensate?

How much do you weigh?

1500 calories isn't very much unless you're a small person...especially if you workout. Are you sure that's all you need?

You can also get some of your 150 grams of protein from real foods like chicken breast, egg whites, etc. and then you won't have to drink all those expensive shakes. I usually have a couple of scoops of protein a day after I workout and before I go to bed but the rest of the day I eat real, whole foods.

I'm wondering what else is in that shake. If I remember correctly a gram of protein only has 4 calories, so that would mean only half those calories are from protein. My Whey protein mix gives 22gs protein at 110 calories.
