Lose the heart rate monior?

Ok so when I started out about two months ago I was at 190. Now I've hit 178. I wear a Mio Motiva petite HR monitor 24-7. In the last few weeks, it has been telling me that I've burned 2200 calories a day or less when before I could hit 3500 easily. I took it off just a few minutes ago and it said 1556 in nearly 17 hours. I did a weight workout today and I am getting the feeling that it's not that accurate. Ditch it?
