Loose skin?

I'm a 25 year old woman, and in total I expect to lose 100 pounds. I started out at 230, now I weigh 205. I have lost the 25 pounds in about 6 weeks. My goal weight is 130.

I am concerned now about losing weight as quickly as I have been, because I am worried it might cause me to have loose skin which as far as I have read can only be removed via surgery (which I cannot afford).

Have any of you lost ~100 pounds and had no issues with loose skin? Or at least loose skin that tightened up later on? Are there particular things you did? Did you lose weight slowly? Work out?

Thank you

The only sure way to not get loose skin that i know of is to lose weight slowly around 2 ibs a week. If you are losing weight fast wich is 25 ibs in 6 weeks (Good Job by the way) you do have a greater risk however, since you are only 25 years old your skin should still retain it's elasticity. The only think i can really say is loosing weight at a slower pace will be the only certain way to stay away from loose skin

But do bear in mind you will lose weight very rapidly the first couple of months, due to being heavier, losing water etc etc. It will gradually slow down of its own accord even if you don't. If you continued to lose 25lbs every 6 weeks I would be worried.

A loss of 1-3lbs per week shouldn't be too difficult to maintain and will help prevent skin being overly loose. Try incorporating some weights into an exercise regime eventually as this will help fill a bit of the gap where fat was lol. You are at the right age for this - in a few years the elasticity of your skin will plummet and loose skin would be a problem, so keep at it when you are in your mid 20's to ensure this doesn't happen!

Applying things like bio-oil or other such products will help keep skin healthy and strong, which will decrease the chances of loose skin somewhat. If you smoke, stop, as this will also greatly affect your skin.
