Loose Skin After Weight Loss: Let's Talk Prevention & Mindset

Hi everyone,

I'm on a significant weight loss journey (about 80 lbs down, 30 more to go!), and while I'm thrilled with my progress, I'll be honest—I'm starting to worry about loose skin. It feels like this looming "what if" that can sometimes dampen the excitement of my achievement.

I've been doing some research and found that while genetics play a role, there are proactive steps we can take to help our skin bounce back as much as possible. Things like:

  • Losing weight slowly (1-2 lbs/week) to give skin time to adjust.
  • Incorporating strength training to build muscle underneath.
  • Staying super hydrated and moisturizing.
  • Eating a diet rich in protein, Vitamin C, and healthy fats to support collagen.
I'd love to open this up to the community because I know I can't be the only one thinking about this.

  • For those who have already been through this, what was your experience? What tips made a noticeable difference for you?
  • For those currently on the journey, what steps are you taking to prevent it? Any favorite strength training routines or skin-friendly recipes?
  • How do you deal with the anxiety or mindset around potential loose skin? How do you focus on the incredible health gains?
Let's share our knowledge, fears, and successes. Any advice or personal stories would be hugely appreciated!
