Looks like I'm the new kid around...

Well, first off I'd like to say hello to everyone! I'm a 20 year old guy, and I'm 5' 10", 230lbs (muscle isn't a major feature for me).

I've been a gym regular for the past 4 1/2 years. In the summer of 2005, I broke my hip and femur in an accident, and ever since then, I've not only gained weight, but I've completely let myself go. I've been going to the gym and riding the stationary bike for a good 30 minutes for the past few weeks (I can no longer jog well at all), and althought I am feeling markedly better, I am having an incredibly hard time breaking my horrible eating habbits.

My girlfriend is the same way. We are both very enthusiastic about going to the gym, and do so 4 times a week, but we've both lost our will-power when it comes to food.

See ya on the forum!

hey man, it's good that you go to the gym on a regular basis, thats hard in it's self. i know i've been slipping this week:eek: as for food wise maybe try drinking fluids like water and juice whenever you feel a need to eat, also there are these weightloss bars, like ones that take the hunger away, and others that make your body burn stored fat before anything else for energy when you exercise. Its from this wellness company i'm a customer of, melaluca. they have been working really well for me

Breaking those eating habits is where you will really see the difference. I have the same problem, but I managed to get it partially under control by purchasing pre-portioned foods, and by reading a lot of labels.
It just comes to be something you have to do, sometimes. Food should not be either a reward, nor a punishment, it is just fuel that can taste good. :D
The surprising thing for me was that once I got used to eating healthier, I craved the bad foods a little less. Most of the time... At least I am done with fast food for awhile, and I hope you folks can do the same thing.
