Looking for Support

Hi, I am new to this whole forum concept.

My name is Jess and I am 22 years old. I just graduated from college this past Saturday and I want to head off into the real world with a healthier lifestyle.

I have been overweight since I hit puberty in Junior High School. I am determined to make things better for myself, but I'm scared and don't know how to start. I also have limited support to look to.

I need to lose a significant amount of weight. Approximately 65 pounds would be ideal.

Does anyone have ideas for me to look to? I have very limited money at the moment and don't know where to start.

Jess

Before you go too much further -spend some serious quality time with the stickied threads -especially in on topic, exercise and nutrition - there's a lot of information that will get you started to where you want to be.

Money not required...

Start yourself a diary in the section below - it'll give you a place for others to get to know you -and for you to get some support.. .read other people's diaries and just have some fun while you're here..

Hey Jessie, my name is Brooke and I'm a newcomer, too :) When I read your post I could instantly relate. I'm 23yrs old and graduated from college a year ago. I've been overweight since middle school and I'm determined to achieve the fit body that I've always wanted. I'm sick of hating on myself...I want to love my body! I need to loose 30lbs.
At my heaviest, I've been 30lbs heavier than I am now. So I know what it's like to loose 60lbs. I lost 50lbs in one year (my senior year in high school before I went to college). I did it without extreme dieting, pills, gimmics, etc. I ate a balanced diet throughout the day (protein, dairy, fruits, veggies, whole wheat carbs), jogged 3-5 days a week, and did not eat after 8PM. The weight FELL off! When you're legitimately overweight, your body welcomes the change and lets go of the excess fat. It doesn't start getting stubborn until the last 10lbs or so.
Anyhoo, the weight stayed off for about two years (I felt so amazing! In college, people thought I'd always been fit because they never saw the old me! I actually turned heads (at a table of soccer players, lol, when I walked into the cafeteria in cute shorts after returning from my daily jog). Unfortunately, two years later I went back to old habits and gained half of the weight back...hence the 30lbs I need to loose :) So now I'm on another journey.
I just wanted to introduce myself and say that I'd be happy to be there for support whenever it's needed! I'm really new to this site so I don't know how to navigate anything, but I plan to continue to visit for support....and maybe upload "before and afters" someday :)
Ttys!

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and support. I am glad to have the support of someone so close to my age and position in life. I know its gonna be a journey and that it won't necessarily be easy, but it is something that I am ready for and ready to do. So here goes nothing!
