Looking for motivation

Hi everyone! Looking for a little motivation, and some good ideas. I am a 31 year old mother of 3 ( stepdaughter 14, son 9 and son 2) trying to loose some weight and get healthy! For myself and for my family. Loosing weight can be tough, but I always find it easer to do with people to talk to about it. My husband is physically fit ( could use a little bit of help) but over all in good shape. He is not too into the dieting and weight loss scene so I figured I would come to a forum where thats what we are all here for.
I have been reading some of the posts and think I made a great decision by coming to this forum, I hope to learn a little ( or alot) from you all and get to know you all a little better!

My stats: Age: 31
Hight: 5ft 9inch
Weight: 215 lbs
STG: 190 lbs
LTG: 165 lbs

Welcome to the forum. Let's all work together to achieve our health goals.

My exprience is that you'll need to do the followings:
a. avoid high fat, high sodium foods (i.e. pizza, hamburger,......);
b. portion control;
c. eat fish and chicken and avoid red meats;
d. eat lots of vegetables and fruits;
e. eating breakfast is a must;
f. eat snacks between meals;
g. do regular exercise (even 20 minutes per day will help a lot);
h. consistently try to put more variety into your menu;
i. always encourage the people around you to do the same with you (a lot of my colleagues started the same diet with me now);

I started my diet 9 months by myself with minimum help from my wife. She was around 5 feet 5 and 151 pounds but didn't quite into the whole "diet and exercise" thing. But after I lost 20 pounds (and my persistent preaching and encouragement), she started to join me as well. It's good to have your spouse work together with you on these endless journey in diets and exercise. Now, after about 4 months, she's 126 pounds (lost 25 pounds already)! All we seem to have more things to talk about on the regular basis.....
