Looking for Article

OK...so awhile back I found this article that I really want to find again but can't.

It was about backhanded compliments, basically. Or at least, how people feel that your weight loss is a right to horn in on your business.

It started with an anecdote about a woman who went to a dinner party (after having lost a little weight) and her friend brashly announced to everyone "X lost 20 pounds - isn't that great?"

The article goes on to talk about how people think your weight loss is an invitation to announce something incredibly personal to everyone else.

I was trying to find it to explain to my mother why I get annoyed every time she announces my weight loss to friends, family, coworkers...people in the elevator...the doormen...the woman that begs for money outside the corner bodega...etc. She can't understand why I don't want all that attention.

Because it's a really personal achievement and I will talk about it when I want but I don't need others to do it for me. It doesn't mean I'm not proud of myself, but I feel like she makes it the center of my existence.

She glossed right over the front page article I had in my college paper last week. I'd rather talk about that.

I tried explaining myself. She didn't listen.

Anyhoo, if anyone knows what article I'm talking about and has a link to it I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

P.S. Responses saying I should shut up and let her announce because she's proud of me and I should be happy about that are incredibly unhelpful and inappropriate. So let's just not go there, thanks.
