Looking for a buddy..

Is there a certain place that we can post requests for a diet buddy? I have looked and don't see one.

Anyways, here is my info:

I'm 34, married for 12 years and just had a baby almost 7 months ago, my weight has sky rocketed to about 326 pounds. (not that I was a twig before, I was around 289). I went on Medifast once before and got down to about 249 and something inside me started freaking out about the weight loss and I gained it all back, then got pregnant and gained even more. I work at a desk all day, at home I am too tired to move from lack of sleep with a baby and I just want to drink a Mt. Dew and watch TV. i am pathetic.

I have a Wii fit Plus, Biggest loser for the Wii - both still have plastic on the packages. I keep looking for an online buddy to help me through the daily struggles, but no one seems to be dedicated, much like myself. I want to be able to play with my son and not need to reinflate my lungs afterward...

I need a daily buddy to share this journey with. Everytime I find one, they always give up before me and leave me hanging which leads me to fail because I need that daily motivation and accountability. I need to loose about 100 pounds to be happy with myself and would like someone who needs to loose about the same amount of weight.

THANK YOU! :waving:

In general this whole site is about supporting each other - which is why there is not a place to find an individual diet buddy. It would be counterproductive to the point of this site. :)

I'd encourage you to start a diary here - people will visit and encourage you and you build friends and community that way. Also by starting a diary, you are accountable to everyone who visits, not just one person who may or may not follow through with being a "buddy".

:)

Absolutely - start a diary and see who visits - then visit them back in their diaries. Also join challenges. These are great ways of making friends.

You could also visit a few diaries and leave messages and see whether they start to visit you.

What you want is a wide circle of friends. Check my friends list - it is full to bursting!!!!....

I have had heaps of friends in my time here - in fact my facebook friends list is full of some very very close friendships that I have made here - and about half of them never come near the forum any more. The fact is that people do get diverted - they get to goal or life happens (maybe get pregnant or something) - but weight loss takes a back seat.

My friends really helped to see me through.

The beauty of this approach is that you make new friends all the time...

Also - I think that it is easier to keep off weight that has been lost through healthy eating (and indeed exercise) rather than any of these shake products. They really do nothing to teach people new eating habits - and if they go back to eating the old way - all the weight is so often regained. I have known far too many people who have discovered this for themselves the hard way.

When I speak of exercise - I started off walking - and I was big so no-one could say that I was brisk...

Hi czm,

You've got to get into the mindset that you are accountable for yourself. Like Kara and Omega mentioned, this forum is a great way to find support. But ultimatly its going to be up to you. You're the only one who can control your actions... And if you have a bad day, don't let it turn into a week, a month, or more.. When you fall down you have to learn to get back up, dust yourself off, and keep on going.

P.s. I love the wii fit. hulahoop anyone??
