Login trouble

Hey, it's me, San, aka the annoying person who's removing people's links and deleting people's posts.

It appears that the board doesn't like me anymore - as of yesterday afternoon, I am unable to log into my main account. I tried to reset my password, used the one that came in the email, but to no avail. Keeps telling me it's the wrong password.

I emailed the forum support, and am waiting for a response right now. Just thought I'd drop a line somewhere letting people know what is going on. I'm not being a lazy mod - just in case you were thinking that - just one that can't get their job done right now.

Darn modern technology, does whatever it wants:toetap05:!

That's strange. Hopefully Sean can have that fixed up for you soon.

And again, after one day, I can't access the second account either. Same problem as the first. Password isn't accepted, reset password as mailed to me isn't accepted either. No answer from support or anything yet.

Scanned my computer twice for any kind of virus or malware that would cause this, nothing. I really have no idea what's going on. I've got no problems on any other website than this one, either.

Guess I'll be gone for a while from the looks of it. :(

Hmm yeah I had noticed - thought it was a bit odd. My work box was still logged in but not the home one. Anyone tried to contact the bigger bosses ?

aka wishes

i did try the contact form but no luck. Ill see if i can use my work box to send a msg to sean or something next time im at work (its friday night here) if its not fixed already by then.

Wishes (Liz) isn't one of the "big bosses." She's a mod like the rest of us. This is something the admin has to look at. I'll post a link to this thread in the moderator forum and sent Sean a private message.

Stay tuned.

This has been happening to me off and on too! It's very frustrating! Tuesday I sent an email saying I couldn't log in and never heard back but the next day I was able to log in so didn't care about it and then it happened again this week.

hey. you may just have to delete your cookies. We did a forum upgrade a couple days ago because our servers were hacked (looks like possibly a disgruntled ex-employee).

As it appears to only a couple users and there is no link between them, cookies seems to make the most sense.

Employee? As in ex-mod? Or do you actually have people on payroll who help run the show behind the scenes?

Well, I cleared out all my cookies, and still had the same problem. Then I went and manually deleted cookies, and even though I had clicked 'delete all' the first time, the WLF cookies were still there, with a handful of others. After clicking delete and removing every cookie individually, I was able to log in again. Weird!

Simply go to the sub-forum that corresponds with the topic you'd like to post about, such as the "weight loss through exercise" forum, and click "new thread."

Its not cookies or sessions, i tried that earlier. Currently I'm having to create a new user everytime i want to post because as soon as my session times out im logged out. The newly created accounts also are not working to login too.

I'll try again, but i doubt its going to work :/

Okay i take that back. Clearing cookies worked once i manually did it. For some reason clearing cookies the normal way didnt work (used web dev addons to view/remove)

it seems every time we do a forum upgrade people complain of this problem and the only solution that seems to work is related to cookies. It's usually because the browser is holding on to two sets of cookies and the login gets messed trying to read them both. I'm not sure on any other solution.

And yes, we have a few staff in Germany and a few in Canada that try to keep this ship sailing. We're still having a hard time actually making money. It seems that whatever we try to do to increase revenue just gets sucked down by the method we used to do it :(

I saw a number of really big fitness and weight loss boards listed on big-boards.com. Is that something you've looked into Sean? I'm the worst marketer in the world... so I'm speaking out my ass. But I saw a number of forums there that were getting crazy amounts of traffic.

I deleted my cookies and everything, but I still can't log onto the forum without having some sort of problem every once in a while. Sometimes it doesn't recognize my account and, what I find to be most annoying, I can't log in and have the forum save my password; so, everytime I come to the site, I have to log in all over again, you know?

I'll give you 4 bucks to fix it.
